Everything I Had Went Moldy

About 20 ounces, nearly dry, but the humidity is has been so high I guess it couldn't dry that last bit. Now I have absolutely nothing to smoke and about 20 ounces of nice quality bud that smells a little bit like mold.

Fuck man I am depressed now. My next harvest won't be for another 5 weeks.

Water cure it. You can set your PH to kill off the mold.

I'm gonna dig up the thread where I seen the same exact thing.

Hang tight, don't throw your buds away yet.....

i would be crying right now if i were you
yeah I literally feel sick to my stomache. I have about 20 hash cookies in my freezer. I also have maybe 3-4 grams of hash from the last harvest still, and a couple bags of trim to make maybe 2-3 more grams of hash. But no bud.

I have read so many conflicting things. Some say you can water cure, some say you can hash it, and others say you need to extract it into oil or alcohol to kill the mold. Others say the damage is done and the mold can be killed and removed, but the toxic by products will remain and its no good. I put it in the oven for a bit because I read you can kill the mold (and I wanted to dry it out the last bit asap before more grew) and that just made it smell disgusting.

good call gary .. mold cant live underwater .. and it will get ride of the moldy taste I would think . When I did it the bud was almost tasteless and very smooth ..... I called it my stealthbud - didnt even smell like ganja burning tbh ...............

Yeah, the dude behind the thread said there was not much flavor afterwords. But better than mold.

Don't put that in your oven dude!

I already put most of it in the oven at 300*F. It dried it out, but the smell is nauseating. I'm not even sure what the smell is. I think I fucked up big time.

You're gonna make me cry dude. Those buds look incredible!

300F has probably killed the THC. Basically vaporized it.

You now have some really pretty salad fixins'.

At least congrats on the nice looking buds Incognito. + rep on that

I read it on several other sites. 300 is high enough to kill aspergillus mold, but not enough to effect thc.

For people with Aspergillus infected marijuana, it is recommended that one bakes it for 15 minutes at 300 degrees, as this apparantly does the trick in removing it
I found that in multiple sources, and I didn't think it could hurt because 300* is below vaporization temp.

EDIT: also I figured it would dry the buds out asap to at least halt further growth in case anything could be salvaged.

140 F kills THC if I am not mistaken.

I hope you can salvage at least some of it....

All I know, if I grew 20oz of even crappy looking bud and it is unsmokable, there's gonna be a body. Might as well call the 911 right now.....

It's not only the spores its the aflatoxins the mold produces. Similar to how you can't just cook a rancid steak and eat it. You could, and it would certainly kill all the bacteria and anything else on it, but the toxic byproducts are already there and can't be "killed". I'm not sure if that analogy works the same on bud as it does for steak, but i'm not sure I feel like risking it either. I won't sell or give away anything that I wouldn't smoke myself. Well I suppose I would if there was nothing wrong with it other than it was lower quality than I would prefer to smoke. As you can see from those nugs my standards have been raised quite a bit from the days of buying schwag. I don't even remember the last time I saw a seed that I didn't order from a seed bank.

I threw away about 2 ounces that had white fuzzy mold growing on it. Anything with mold obviously growing on it already went straight into the trash. Losing 2 ounces to mold doesn't suck as much as you think when you got 20 more sitting there. But when those all smells like mold you get real blue. :(
