My plants have a Mg deficiency, and I went to get some epsom salt. I went to walmart but the only epsom salt they have is lavander bath salt... Is there a plain epsom salt that you can buy or do you just get the scented stuff?
 
Yea, the stuff you are looking for will be in the bath and beauty section. Look for anything that reads, magnesium sulfate heptahydrate.

You get the epson salts at pharmacies... it's good to soak your feet in when the dog's hurt.
 
Talk about high jacken threads today..lol

I think one tablespoon per gallon of water should work. Just mess around with it till the plant seems better.
 
So if you have a mag. def. and this is needed to help. How do you wait till it gets better. Also how did you get the formula for mixing. Don't want to over do it. How old should the plants before you don't need to worry about freaking the plant out by using this?

im not sure, but i think that might be too much. maybe its a teaspoon.... better use a little less than too much.

walmart has it in the gardening section. it works well but if you already have a mag def there is not alot you can do. but he buds can still be great
 
I got some at walgreens, $1.69 for more than I need. I just added about 1 teaspoon to a gallon of water, I'm not sure what the "correct" amount is. I guess its good for both Mg and Sulfur. The only reason I needed it was because I bought some cheapo generic plant food that had like .01% Mg. My leaves started folding *up* like crunchy taco shells.
 
This can be quickly resolved by watering with 1 tablespoon Epsom salts/gallon of water. Until you can correct nutrient lockout, try foliar feeding. That way the plants get all the nitrogen and Mg they need. The plants can be foliar feed at ½ teaspoon/quart of Epsom salts (first powdered and dissolved in some hot water). When mixing up soil, use 2 teaspoon dolomite lime per gallon of soil.
If the starting water is above 200 ppm, that is pretty hard water, that will lock out mg with all of the calcium in the water. Either add a 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of epsom salts or lime (both will effectively reduce the lockout or invest into a reverse osmosis water filter. Mg can get locked-up by too much Ca, Cl or ammonium nitrogen. Don't overdo Mg or you'll lock up other nutrients.

I think one important fact has gone missing.... How about the scent used to make the Epsom salt smell other than Epsom salt?
 
I just started using 1 teaspoon per gallon in my feeding water & my foliar feed...things seem to be getting better....surely not getting any worse
