Emergency! Plants Yellowing after Dolomite Lime Application. Any Help Out There?

Hello everyone, i'm growing in soil, doing some tangerine dream, super lemon haze, and jack herer mostly. 4 gallon buckets, 50/50 blend of pro-mix/ffof, my plants were yellowing and had mag/cal deficiencies. So found out my ph was really low, just less then about 6. So tried flushing a little still too low. I just applied a little less then 1tbs per gallon of dolomite lime (pelletized) in my water, that's what was recomended with no extra additives or nutes. 8 Effin hours later my plants are even more yellow all over?? is this just temporary ph stress?? some say that means the culprit all along was manganese. I run the WHOLE line of advanced nutes, so if you think any of them will help in this matter please suggest it i prolly have it. Also the water i run is less the 100ppm (small boy filter). Plants run around 81 degrees constantly. So if i sidetracked too much the original question is: Why did my plants start going insanely yellow after i applied dolomite lime????? Do i need to flush or what??? thanks any help is appreciated...

Hi jer,
Im no expert and normaly need help abit myself but im kind of thinking that adding the lime and its got worse has throwen whatever is wrong off more, or it could be that the lime had no efect what so ever and has made you think thats whats made it even worse' you know what i mean dont you.
Am i right in thinking your plants had mag/cal def's before this anyway?

Hey scunk, well i checked but that would only be in an extreme case, lime in the amount i applied should bring my ph up to around 6.5, and i was really low i mean 5.something low lol. Yes it orginally was for a few plants but i found that all my plants were low in ph in the soil and figured that's prolly why most nutrients didn't uptake, i mean the soil was really dense with nutes during the flush. Like piss dark yellow. and all my plants were showing signs of nitrogen deficiency anyways, yes i know it's normal but not that extreme. Yellowing through out the top leaves is bad. and had that on some.

When you said about the n def en thats the other thing i was thinking of, like i said i need help most of the time as its only my second grow , but ive done a hell of alot of reading about everything and have books on cannibis growing. but we are all here doing the same thing and trying to look out for one another, i see what you mean, is it only on the top of the plants or is it all the plant now?

8 whole hours?!?

Powdered dolomite lime takes a couple of WEEKS when applied as a top dress. The pellets will take even longer.

It works, but not overnight.

BTW, *I* use 2tbl/gallon of MIX, or 1cup/CuFt of mix

Next time, add it to your mix before use and avoid all this.

yes, wetdog literally yellowing changed for the worse in 8 hours, i'm very tentative to them i know when/where they're yellowing and if it's worse or better

no it does work immediately but for it to act as a permanent buffer and release it's cal/mag it takes a couple weeks
Sorry, but it does not work 'immediately'. It's crushed rock, not some chemical that's available right away, and it would not make your leaves more yellow in any event. You're going to have to look elsewhere for that.

If it is a deficiency, flushing will just make it worse. If you think it is a mag def, do some epsom salts as a foliar or soil drench. 1tsp/gallon of water. You'll see improvement in a day or so, IF that's the problem.

I'm growing in 100% ffof the ph from day 1 was 5.8-6.1 I added 4 cups of Soil Dr. Lawn Lime one cup every other watering in 5 gallon pot the soil is like cement and the ph is still the same. It hasn't hurt the plants no more so I guess you can't put to much!

Dolomite Lime is a soil AMENDMENT.

soil like cement?
that cant be very pleasant to be a plant in cement soil

Dolomitic lime is relatively insoluble when used as an amendment or when added to water and can easily take weeks if not months to begin to raise soil pH depending on partical-size and the amounts applied. Smaller partical sizes such as those 0.5mm and smaller are the most effective/efficient for raising soil pH and providing micronutrients such as calcium and magnesium. While addition of lime as a soil amendment can be overdone, cannabis tolerates a fairly wide pH range before macro/micro nutrients begin to be tied up from a excessively high/low pH. Cannabis in the later stages of flowering can mimic pH imbalances as the plant extracts larger amounts of N and P from the leaves. Depending on how late in flowering a given plant is, it may be too late to correct deficiencies. This is why it is so important to get your plants soil "dialed in" pior to flowering during vegetative growth.

I tried to put the lime in the ffof before planting and then I had brown spots so I had to re-pot it to 7 gallon pot to fix that ideal! I give up on all dirt!
Going back to what I knew before I went legal I order this bulk rock wool and lovin it! I can get this rock wool with free shipping where with dirt I couldn't!
I had less trouble with the rock wool But with all FF hype I had to try it! Now I have I'm done with it!
These are 45 lbs each each one is easily one of my small grows!:bigjoint:

You don't give up on dirt, dirt gives up on you. JK

You mean you going to hydro? If so, props, that gets too confusing for me to touch
