Emergency - Can't restore power to my grow

My lights come on at 12am, run till noon. I went down to my garden which is in the basement at 12:30am to say good morning. Nothing was running. No lights, fans, pumps, etc... So I flipped the power box lever that is in the basement. Nothing happened.

I then checked all the circuit breakers - none were tripped. So I flipped the master switch outside the house and went back downstairs. Nothing is on. I tried flipping all the breakers just for good measure and reset the master switch again - still nothing. My upstairs of my house is all powered just fine. And here I am.

Pretty fuckin worried, I have light down there keeping the photo period but my fear is something is blown and I have no experience with electrical. Suggestions, help, advice? I could use it all. Thanks in advance.

Do you have extension cords ran to anything or power strips. I would check these upstairs. I bet you have a defective cord or power strip or timer I would take each one upstairs and start the process of elimination, it could even be your main plugin.

that is a nightmare, check, double check everything.. get one of those screw drivers that light up when there is electricity and check everything

Same thing happened to me, turned out to be a blown fuse that didn't look blown. I checked all the fuses, all cords, everything and I couldn't figure it out, even my electritian was stumped...then we decided to just change the fuse that LOOKED fine, and VOILA!

yeah If your running extension leads always check for blown fuses after a power out in your grow room, in general blown fuses in the plugs is what I check for after the main breaker board. Good way to check is to take the fuse out of the plug and shake it, they tend to rattle if it's blown.

A good way of avoiding blown fuses in the plugs (especially if using extension leads) just put a mahoosive fuse in it, all my extensions have 13amp ones (some only came with 5a fuses, was like wtf that's not enough for anything)

But your gals should be fine even in flower, up to 24 hours of darkness once or twice max shouldn't stress them too much. Veg... well it really doesn't matter how many times it happens, they'll just go a bit droopy and pick straight up when you turn the lights on.

What are you running and off how many plug outlets? probably a broken fuse or burnt out wiring if there was a lot of load or a loose connection. Hope you sort it. Let us know tho as I wont be able to sleep tonight worring about your crop.

Waking up now... Thanks for all the responses. I have multiple tents. All are not working and are plugged into different outlets around the room. None of my equipment works in any outlet, pumps or lights. My cords seem okay when testing some of my equipment upstairs.

I had a simulaer problem, the wireing in the wall had a loose conection, and i lost all power, took for ever to figure it out (the house was already wired, so it wasn't something i did.

I guess I'll need to get a volt meter and check out the receptacles and the fuse... Really stumped here. Just dont want to call an electrician but also really need the lights up again by tonight... Thanks for the help.

After building a new room, I moved a circuit from the top of my ceiling to the walls, when I did this it caused one d the outlets to arch across and ruin the outlet. It happened to be the very first outlet and once it Happened none of the outlets on the line work now. I'll have to replace that particular outlet. Start from the last outlet and work your way back to the panel on the circuit. Your gonna need to diagnose it.

Thanks. I just took each outlet receptacle apart and checked the connections - everything is solid, connected and tight. Flipped the main again just for shits and gigs, nothing. If I am looking at a blown main fuse, can I replace this myself? If so, hardware store would have them or is this something special?

So I flipped the power box lever that is in the basement.

This is most likely your problem, these sit for years without being touched and they go bad, flipin on and off will not help you. Get a power meter from lowes, about 20 bucks. Open it up check the power where it comes into the box and then where it comes out. I am willing to bet it is the box.

Need a meter to know for sure. I have one for this exact reason.

Did you check your timers. I have had a timer malfunction before. Try a different appliance and plug it in where your grow appliances draw current from that exact circuit ( if that doesnt work then it is something wrong with your wiring or maybe you fried the circuit because you are running too much juice for your circuit to handle...watts/voltage = amps..try not to exceed 80% of amp capacity). Try isolating and plugging your grow hardware into a different circuit and do that to isolate and see if they still work. Start from there to get an idea of what maybe going on.

Agree, it is always good to have a power meter around not just for the weed but the ac fridge everything. You can save a lot of money with just a little knowledge and the right tools
