Electronic ballast+Digilux worth it?

Ive needed a serious upgrade from my last setup (400W HPS Magnetic) To a more up to date electronic system. I came across the digilux line of bulbs and a lumatec 600w switchable ballast which i can get for around $169 and the bulb for $82. There's tons of other bulbs out there for less then half the price, but is it really worth hocking up 82 bucks for the digilux, will it really be worth it in weight?

Hi dude, I use a 400w Lumatek Ballast, and a 400w Dual-Spec Digi-Lux lamp and it works great!! There are other Dual-spec lamps that are cheaper but no doubt they wont last as long since they will have been most likely designed for use with Magnetic Ballasts...

I did a fair bit of research and found the Digital Bulb/Digital Ballast combo worked a treat, Hope this helps man if you want more info just ask :) - STELTHY :leaf:

nice, nice.
im rocking the same in but 600w....
i havent had it for long enough to give a real review (bulb life in Lumatek ballast)
but it sure works!
and just the way they package the bulb makes it worthwhile.

I have a 250w, 400w, and a 600w Lumatek Ballast and have a DigiLux lamp for just the 400 at the moment.. as soon as I can control my temps to run a 600 I will defo be getting A 600w DigiLux lamp.. I am so impressed with the brightness a quality of the light :)

The packaging is very well done and despite the fact I forked out over £120.00 for just 1X single 400w DigiLux lamp (inc import & export charges) I am still very happy with it and upon Harvest it'll have more than paid for itself :) - STELTHY :leaf:

Admittedly I also run 4X 6500K - Blue Spec CFL's in various different wattages.. and a UV-B tube for excellerated THC production etc.. But the 400W DigiLux is defo in charge :) :) :) . Above is a pic of my 1X DINAFEM 'Royal-Haze' she looking good!! I have say the Lumatek-Digilux combo is defo a worthwhile investment - STELTHY :leaf:

I went with ushio as it was cheaper and I heard the most consistent good things about them
I've used both the Digillux and the Ushio on 400w Lumateks side by side for nearly a year. The Digi looks brighter to my eyes (more blue?), but the Ushio seems to get slightly better results in flowering.:peace:

I bought a digilux bulb a few months back. It's actually the only bulb I've ever had fail. It didn't make it through a whole ten week flowering. The interior capsule failed and molten sodium cracked the outer shell. The typical cause/mode of failure of HPS bulbs is inadequate seating of the base on the socket causing arcing. This is usually operator error not screwing the bulb in TIGHTLY. Just throwing that in here cause it's good info to know.

Yeah i was going to link the thread you stated that even with the digilux having the better reflector than the ushio, the ushio out performed the digilux, but in the thread you never mentioned if it were side by side or same strain so I figured any point I made would be moot.

What made me choose ushio over digilux, I had both in cart on amazon, was a thread I came across of a med grower blowing like 35 of his 40 digilux in a couple months.

I came across another thread where a guy called lumatek to complain about his horti 1k's blowing and a guy over there said to use Ushios. Can't beat zee germans
