Ok so im running 2 600w hps in my grow room right now i tried to hook up another light and it blows the circuit every time... I want to add 2 more 600w lights what would i have to do so i can plug them all in the same room??? +REP:leaf:

extension cords. the smaller in length the better to another room on another circuit. 1200 watts is cool on 1 15amp i believe throwing up 1800 on a 15amp causes it to blow meaning you have to put it on another circuit breaker. no ifs ands or butts.

or get an electrician to set up new wiring.

When I added a second HID light I added a new breaker and ran the wiring into the room for a new circuit with a quad outlet setup. It is not so hard to do but if you are not sure have someone with experience help you do it. I was in the basement so running the wires was easy. Dealing with walls & ceilings can make it a bigger job.

20 amps has to be ran with 12 gauge wire and maybe even 10 depending on the distance.

the formula to find out how big of a beaker you need is watt/volts= amps

example 3 600 watt lights is 1800 watts divided by 120 volt wire (witch is standard) equals 15. so you need a 15 amp breaker.... BUT they say to only run stuff at 80 to 90% capacity just for safty so you should go with a 20 amp

1800/120=15amps

now if you have a 240 line running your only going to need half those amps e.g. 1800/240=7.5 so that is why a lot of people use 240

Hope i helped and good luck with your grow

check out my signature it has pics of how i ran my wire
