Electrical Question

Can anyone tell me how to hook up this electrical plug?

It runs from my lamp to my bank of magnetic ballasts which is wired with a reg socket type plugs. On the 3rd pic, I've marked it A,B, & C ....... if anyone can tell me what color wire goes to which letter, it would be greatly appreciated. As you can tell, I hate playing with electrical stuff.

Green wire goes on "C" as it's ground wire. As far as the hot (black) and neutral (white), is one of the prongs larger than the other? If so the neutral (white) wire connects to the larger prong, and the hot (black) connects to the smaller prong.

No, the two prongs are the same size and the third one is sort of round, i know that is the ground....just wasn't sure which color wire goes to ground.

green to the middle being ground, the other two either post.
Green to the middle is right, but you cannot guess with the other two. If you look at a standard home outlet, you will notice that the one slot is slightly larger then the other. The larger slot is for the Nuetral wire, white wire. And the small slot is for the hot, black wire. Hope this helps.

It doesn't plug into the wall or like a typical house outlet....it plugs into the bank of ballasts I have. That was wired by an electician and has a normal house outlet. Does that make a difference? I can't take a picture of the ballast or outlet right now because I'm on the 12 hour dark period right now. Would i be safe to assume its wired like a house outlet then?

Green = ground
silver = neutral (white)
gold = hot (black)
Technically the hot wire typically goes to a brass screw. Since this is a non-polarized plug though, it doesn't matter which one gets the hot or neutral, just so long as green goes to ground.

Dirty Oz is correct !

So is Forsetti ! except .. if it is a D=ground plug .. which it is .. it is also coded in the prongs ... the neutral is vertically longer and the receptacle matches it ..it's important to get it right .... small 60 watt lamps and no d-ground are not as important ..but an expensive Ballast is Important .. make sure u get it right .. and yes if a certified electrican wired your space then the neutral is matched at the receptacle

??........... hahahahaahahaahha

:weed: :bigjoint: ....... 8-)
