Electric fence

Hy guys, i'm an outdoor grower and i had a beautiful place this year, but the only problem was deer. They ate a lot of my plants, so i was thinking of putting eather a tall fence or an electric fence. Has anybody tried the electric fence idea? If so, did it help?

electric fencing will absolutely work. i would try deer netting first. cheaper and safer.

grind habanero peppers in blender with bout a cup veggy oil, sit in fridge overnight. strain, place in spray bottle n fill with water, place 2 drops dish soap n shake well....peace

Thanks man, i actually found a solar powered electric fence sistem, and i think it would do great for guerilla growing and it is cheap [60 dollars]

Can you link it? I wonder how many watts it will put out? Is it enough to deter a deer? Is there a battery that provides power when the sun is not up? Im just thinking about night time.

I would give you the link but you would not understand what it says as it is in slovenian language.
the charger puts out 2,1A and is used for electric fences that use 750mA. Is that enough? you also get a battery (the one like in your car), so that it runs at night as well.

if you use fallen trees and branches and fence in smaller plots, say around a 10' x10' area, deer wont jump the fence because they think its either a trap and they wont be able to get out.

You do have the potential to kill small animals with the electric. When I was a youngin my little cousin fell under the dog electric fence and it stuck her under it. I got shocked to shit but I got her out from under that fence. I believe she would have died if nobody was around.

thats a sad idea man! i'm an animal lover and i do not want to kill any animals, i just wanna scare them off. I'll definetly have your story in my head while i'll be building my fence

go to your garden center and get granulated wolverine urinee. Its used just for that. I tried it and i havent seen a deer near me in years. I spread it out every month around the perimeter of my grow. Look it up. works great. Theres fox urine cayotee urine wolverine urine. Get an animal thats local to you and hunt deer.

Not really. Old cowboys test them by grabbing them even with wet leather gloves. Shocks but not bad. Just way unpleasant.

It works great, the problem is, it's just so hard to get the bear to pee just where you want him to.

eletric fence will not work. i hav e a farm deer dont give a shit about eletric fence. there hair is to thick. hot pepper in a blender and spray it all around and on your plants it kills bugs and mold to. wear glove and googles and mask if windy us only down wind.

I put up an electric fence around my vegetable garden to keep moose at bay. It's worked well for years. I put in a solid ground around the perimeter. An eight foot ground rod at every corner, looped together with #4 copper and that's tied to the buzz box. Fence strands are 12" apart and they're all hot. The only problem I've had is that they were able to push through the aluminum wire and break it before the shock deterred them. Replaced the aluminum with stainless steel wire and haven't had moose in the garden again. BTW- because the "ground" is at the fence perimeter and not alternating hot/earth strands on the fence, any wire touched is a shocker. And it's a real jolter after a rain or in the morning dew.

Grew up until 14 on a cattle ranch in west Texas. We used to get "city slickers" that would visit and some brought kids our age. We would trick them into eating a chile from our garden, giving lots of water to help them and then get them to pee on an electric fence.
