Effect of switching to 12/12

Why would you switch to 12/12? They're autos, they don't need 12/12 to flower, I can see buds forming/pistils and I can't even find my glasses this morning.

It's more of a need than a want, so that's why I was wondering what effect it would have. The buds are a lot bigger than that picture makes them look. I'm figuring two more weeks.

Most people I know who grow autos just grow them on 18/6 in their veg room along side their vegging plants.

on day 76 your not gonna have to bad a problem with finishing on 12/12 depends on how much it has bulked up until now / how far along it is
it wont hermi or just fall over and die
it will just effect yield if they are close to being done it wont be by much if they are still in early flower it may hurt yield but it will still finish

Appreciate the comments. I got a really smokin deal on that led because the glass became unattached. I fixed it, and decided to use it on the side like that. I swap out the plants once a week so ones close than the other, and turn them 1/4 turn every day. I think it really helps. The side buds are a lot bigger than the picture shows with all the leaves. And their super hard. I'm pretty happy overall, especially since all I have is the t8, and the 90w led.

ive read that sativa's even though they get more daylight hours in nature that most of the light is from the side
and sativa dominants are supposed to really take well to stronger side lighting as opposed to top lighting
