ebb n flood buckets- how to disconnect tubing?

guys how do i disconnect tubing on my ebb n flood bucket system, i had to put tubing in warm water so i could out them on now they are tight and won't come off, cutting them damages connectors, is there an easy way?thankyou..also ive had to put the brain in the tent i'd much prefer it outside, but there are no low access points on the tent, so do i just cut a hole?, but then its not light proof?, any suggestions?, cheers
