Ebb & Flow setup help

My question is regarding design/setup. I get how the system works but I haven't seen much about determining equip sizes for setup. For example, if I have a 4x4 flood table, how big of a res do I need? I read to flood the table with "30% more nutrient than the medium will absorb". How do I determine what that amount should be and how much more than that amount should my res hold?

i think it depends on how many plants you need to feed.

any size will do. the ph will fluctuate depending! and the topping as well!

That makes sense. Any idea on how many gallons it would take to flood a 4'x4'x6" table to 3" if it was empty?
