Hello everyone, I'm looking for some input from those of you experienced growers out there who have chosen to primarily grow using Ebb and Flow tables. Answer any part of the question, or all of them, all input is welcome. Pictures are definitely welcome... and encouraged.

In your Ebb and Flow table setup:

What medium do you grow in?

How often do you flood your medium?

How high do you push the EC in your favorite medium?

Again, thanks for your input.

I'm flooding every 6 hours for 15 minutes and I use hydroton pebbles with rockwool cubes. Hey doktorgreenthumb420, what are those doorknobs for in that 3rd picture you posted?

I put my clones stright into hydroton naked. I find Rockwool is too much of a hassle, not to mention another thing to buy and another thing to dispose of.
I flood 3 times per lights on for 12 minutes. with 185 gph ecoplus pumps.

Grown using FHD Holland secret 3 part. As well as 35% H202 @ 1 ml per g.

The highest i push my EC is 1.4 and that is only for a week.

I was told if you use rockwool cubes and hydroton to flood for 15 min then wait for one hour and keep doing it but only durning the light cycle. No flooding at night. I use three part GH nutes. I have 7 - 8 inch tall bushes in two weeks. They look super fine with huge leaves and lots of branching and no stretching. Is this growth rate slow, normal or fast? Is this to many flood cycles? Thanks.

That sounds like alot, but the right amount of flood time is the amount that works for you. So if it's working, keep it up.

I use 1/2 rockwool flock (shredded rockwool) and 1/2 hydroton clay pebbles and flood them twice a day during lights on.

I'm thinking of eliminating the hydroton pebbles and flooding only once a day.

I have a PPM meter but havent used it for quite a while, I just go by a percentage of the recommendations of General Hydroponics flora series.
some strains may take half the recommended dosage, and some take the full dose.

Hi! My name is Gypsy and I flood my Hydroton filled pots 6x a day...

I used to do 12x a day, but I got Algae on my trays, since they didn't dry out...

I have also gotten away with 2 floods a day..

6 seems to work for me...

As for EC..

I use a hanna grocheck PPM/pH meter and I try to keep the res right at 1400...

I run multiple strains and some cannot take more...

One strain, I have pushed to 1800PPM... but the others will not take it...

Cheers!

I use rockwool cubes and hydroton pebbles and flood 3 to 4 times per light cycle. Click on my avatar for my results. I veg 3 teaspoons per gal General Hydro = grow, micro and bloom. Ph is anywhere from 5.5 to 6.5. Rockwool gives high ph levels. Next time I'm going to try to use only starter cubes and hydroton pebbles.

Thanks for the reply. My system is made from black 5 gal buckets with black lids.
Do you think I can get aglae in black buckets?

if it's wet and there is light... the green stuff will grow...

I dont see how light can get into black buckets with black lids? But if you think it would be better Iam going to set the timer to wait 2 hr between watering instead of one. At 15 days in the hydro system they seem realy super nice. All but one are over 15" wide and 8" tall with major branching. So is waiting for 2 hr between watering going to be the best? And thanks again for the help.

Merlin... I cannot know if light gets in your system... I don't even know what you have...

I run ebb flow tables... you speak of black buckets.. I am confused...

But it is pretty straight fwd, either you have algae or you don;t...

Its cool. I have two 5 gal black pant buckets per plant. One for the tank and that is the one with the black lid. One with a 10" mesh pot filled with
Hydroton. Iam running 5 of these now. I use a 35 watt air pump with 6" air rocks one per 5gal tank. I use a 195 gph pump in each tank to pump the water from the tank into the bucket with the mesh pot when it gets to the level I set it drans back into the bottom bucket. But if you think it would be better to wait 2 hr between watering that is what Iam going to do and Thanks again.

Now I understand...

I don;t think you will get algae because you have no wet surface exposed to the light...

Flood as your plants like... but I would consider making the floods a little shorter...

You are flooding a small area, it floods quick, I bet..

One or two minutes past the point where it reaches the overflow should be sufficient, with multiple feedings as you and I are doing...

Sorry it took me so long to "get it"...

That sounds like a neat set up...
