I am doing my first ebb and flow grow. I got the cap and ebb grow system. However i didnt think things through real well and didnt think about needing a system for veg and sytem for flower if I want to have a continous cylce going.
So I got small ebb and flow system. I am using the suretogrow (stg) inserts as the medium.
In veg I put the inner bucket from the cap e & g system in the flood table with a stg insert. My plan was when they reach the right hight I would just take the bucket from that system and put in the cap e & g for flower.
My question is that the roots are growing out of the bucket in the veg system and on to the flood table. What do people in an e & f when the roots grow out to the flood table. I read about coco mats but if the roots grow into something like that then I couldn't just switch the bucket to the other system for flower.
So is there a way around this or did I not think things through and this is not a good way to do it? Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
