lol @ ebay makes a growtent!!!!!!! when i started i bought a 4x4' grow tent from ebay...buyer beware...if ebays famous for anything its selling lesser quality knockoff pruducts that look an sound just like the name brands...i bought the most bang for my buck tent that promised it wasnt using some plastic that old tents apparently used that were toxic if plants touched the plastic...when it finally arrived there were no instructions whatsoever an no real way to get em...thank god i was a camper all my life and so i was able to figure it out fairly easy.....if you dont get a name brand tent like i didnt't be sure to test all of the seams for light leaks...i had a pretty significant amount...if i were you id spend the time and save the money an go get some good pvc and some 5.5mil panda film....it'll save u alot of money in the ling run and you can make it custom for whatever area it needs to fit

I have three ebay tents and think they are great - well worth the money - real durable, real easy to set-up (mine came with instructions which of course I didn't follow, not to hard to set up a rectangular tent imo), easy to clean, water proof...

The only time I would encourage someone to buy a name brand tent is if they are getting a tent larger than 4x8. My 4x8 is plenty sturdy for the lights and exhaust but any larger and I would want thicker supports than what mine came with. So if you are buying an 8x8 you might want to spend the big bucks, anything smaller and I personally think you're throwing your money away with the brand names. And of course you could purchase an 8x8 ebay tent and upgrade the supports, would still be hundreds cheaper than the name brand equivalent.

Thanks lads for the input and sorry for the misleading title :)
The DIY approach interests me. I mean even I could make a rectangular shape out of PVC pipe. I would also like the tent to be shorter. More like the dimensions of a typical desk. It would be easier for me to hide it in the garage this way. Although the frame wouyld be really easy to make I'm not so sure about the cover. I cant sew for shit. Also, what is Panda Film?

its black and white poly....you can get it online or at any hydro shop.....it normally comes in 10' x100 foot rolls for like 85$...but nowadays you can get it in 10' square panels for 10 dollars i recommend the 5.5 mil because it's more durable...so your pretty much lookin for $10 or the good pipe, 10$ for a bag of appropriate size t's, $10-20 worth of panda and $6 worth of duct tape. I'd also recommend payin $12 for a pvc cutting tool...there like ratcheted scissors and they make it so easy to make exact straight cuts which is whats best for the t's....also don't forget to account for the 3/4-1" witdth the t's add when you cut your poles...where you need the cage to be stronger like at the top for the weight of the lights run cross members and another pole down the middle of the length...i'd run a extra square of poles about 4 inches up from the bottom square so you can put an outer layer of panda and also put an inner tray layer that duct tapes all the way around the lower square of poles so your leak proof and every cycle you can just change out your floor and your ready to go again fresh...

That sounds like a neat setup and the customisation aspect of it is cool but I am proper shite at DIY and seein as though a couple of the guys have had good results with this same tent I might give her a try. Although on the other hand, a shorter, longer shape would be better for my requirements. I'm a pondering cnut.

Thanks for all the input, much appreciated.
