Eb gen 1

I have 24 gen 1 280mm 3500 strips. Are the gen 2 and gen 3 that much more efficient than I should upgrade? My space will be a 2x2, I'm running a hlg 185 24a, should I spend the money elsewhere? Using the driver I have how many strips? and in series or parallel
I've built all 3 eb gens- gen 2 is my favorite. Had difficulty with the pushin connectors on gen 3. I don't know the math on how many strips you'll need to run on that driver but ill sit down and diagram it out later today if someone hasn't already done it for you by that time.

Heatsinkusa - for heatsinks
tnutz.com - for framing
Digikey for driver and strips

I'm still running BXEB Gen1 strips on several fixtures I built almost 4 years ago.
Whilst the newer generations offer more efficient output, the Gen 1 will still get the job done.
If you're only working with 190(ish) watts in a 2x2, the gains in efficiency would be entirely negligible. Splitting hairs, so to speak.
Long live the BXEB.

The nominal amperage for the 280mm Gen1, is 350ma. With that particular driver, if you ran all 24 in parallel, the 7.8 amps from that driver will be divided up to around 325ma for each strip.
At that current level, those strips can be run without any dedicated heatsinks at all.

Oh right on, it's already in action!!!
Thought you had the strips, but not on a running build.
I don't believe you'd even notice if you did upgrade.
