Easy setup, but will it work?

What I use for clones is a tupperware container with hydroton and tap water. I put the clones in rockwool and this works, and roots the clones.
Recently, maybe a week or two, I used some rooted clones in the same container and put some flowering nute water in instead of tap, and switched to 12/12. I dont fill to the top, only about halfway. So far, I can see pistols forming, and the clone is getting bigger and looks healthy.
I was wondering if this is sustainable throughout the rest of the flowering process into harvest.
I would think that the plant would die of either: PH imbalance, nute burn, or lack of oxygen to its roots. So far I have no problems, but it is still very early. Im watering every other day, switching from RO water to nute water.
Will this work the rest of the way? If not, why not? and is there any cheap and easy fixes?
My other setup is lsting in DWC, and Im trying to save head room. I could do a sea of green style if this setup were to work. And it seems like less maintenence. Thanks guys.

I'd be mostly worried about oxygen to the roots. They need some kind of oxygenation. If you are changing water every other day that might be keeping them going. Can't you get a little airstone in there?

I dunno. is it smart to have an airstone underneath all the hydroton? I dont know if that would be bad.
I don't know how big your tupperware is but they make small airstones. I think you should find a way to oxygenate the water or go to plan B.

yeah i agree with the other posters. you will need to get a small fish pump and air stone. it should work if you check the ec and ph levels often. good luck man

Here's some pics, its been like two weeks. They look good with nothing but alternating flowering nutes and water, once every day or every other day.
Will airstones work if its covered in hydroton? I think the evaporation and drinking of the water is what allows for oxygenation - possible and okay?

if you put them in the res below the hydroton not in it

Thats the thing, no rez. Just nute water sitting in the hydroton. I think the evaporation combined with my not filling to the top, allows the oxygen to flow to the roots (my theory, because it is growing well).
