Had an idea based on a few things Ive seen guys do. Did this in no time, when I got home, set it up in 60 sec. Works flawless!

Fan = $28
filter = $26
PVC elbow = $3
PVC pivoting "fan mount" = $4
Charcoal from hydroponics store = $70

$131(CDN) which sucks cause Im sure I could have found cheaper activated charcoal. but all pet stores where out and the hydro store is a bit expensive. Either way I did it improve, fast as shit, and it does the job I need it to do like right... meow.

I have seen filter + inline for as cheap as $129(US) on amazon, but I am pleased as hell with this, as it it is flawless, also did I mention the fan mount is on a pivoting piece? The filter can pivot anywhere I choose, keeping it out of the lights or what ever may become in the way. +++

plus it just fucking looks nice.

Nice, I use a similar re-usable setup with a larger Fram air filter (posted it here a while back) and 4" Inline Fan.

FYI: Thought I'd mention an option for the activated charcoal in Canada - got to Walmart's pet/fish tank supplies section. They sell 4 oz jars for about $4.50 each, one would probably do it for the size of yours and drop your cost in half...

The filter is larger than it looks. It holds 5 pounds of charcoal. The fan is 95/105 CFM. More than antiquate for my needs.

5 pounds = 80 oz @ 4.5$/4oz = 90$

I am all for DIY I do it all the time, but your costs are $131.00 where you can buy a pretty nice setup on Amazon for $99.50. I will admit it does look amazing, nice work!!

Here is the ones I buy, I have 3 of them and they work flawlessly.

nice reply. I agree, if you are in the market and have the time by all means go for this, but I need mine asap and beat wait for an online order and built myself while still keeping way lower price than local hydro stock.

I could have built a lot cheaper than I did, but I knew that if I was going to build my own, I at least wanted to make it nice, not a piece of shit that I'd need to replace for a combo model like the one you listed.

Also that can't be shipped to where I live and, if it could, the cost of shipping and taxes + currency conversion would have put it in $130 range.

Deceiving for sure, what the hell are you growing that needs a filter w/5 LBS. of activated charcoal?

Cant tell but where does your charcoal go? I'm assuming it sits in the fram filter but what keeps it contained in the fram filter from being sucked through the fan, just some pantyhose? Pretty cool idea. I'd like to borrow if ya don't mind.

Blow thru filter, as opposed to sucking.
