Early chop, thoughts?

My mother-in-law is coming to visit next Friday for a week and my Big Buddha Seeds Blue Cheese is currently on day 51 (7 weeks 2 days). I know it'll take at least 5 days to dry and I'm hoping to have everything dismantled before she arrives to avoid having to worry about getting discovered.

My microscope shows the following:

lower down:

My question is... will this actually be mature enough to work? I know it'll be a less relaxed high, but I don't want to blow a few months' worth of work. Most of the pistils are not brown yet. If I chopped it this weekend, would it totally suck?

wouldn't suck totally, but the difference of that and it being mature would be substantial.
Fuckin in-laws...
Any chance you could put it outside until she leaves?
Hide it somewhere?

It's possible. Alternatively I could move my tent into my attic, but our weather is unpredictable and since heat rises it might get a little too toasty up there. We're seeing 70s-80s in the daytime and 40s at night lately, so maybe it won't be too bad. I hate the idea of putting a 400w HPS in my attic, though--just seems like a fire waiting to happen, and my insurance doesn't cover that just yet :P.

Fortunately I have 3-4 oz of Northern Lights and Papaya sitting in jars in case I need to chop this early. GAH... wish her trip was planned for 2 weeks later.

put it outside, the low temps could help bring out some colors.
certain strains like to frost up a lil in the cold too.
Course... conversely some strains stunt at 40 deg, but if you're thinking of chopping anyways... couldn't hurt.
I wouldn't do the attic though, high temps can do WAY more damage than low temps, at least this far into the grow

Good thinking. Our sun rises at 5:30 am and sunset is around 9pm lately. Think the extra light would mess with it at this stage in flowering?

wouldn't hurt it for a couple days, depending on the strain, if you put it outside for a couple weeks maybe, but honeslt most strains are reaaaaally reluctant to reveg, so i'd say you are golden.
In fact some growers swear by putting them under an 18/6 regiment the last four days or so.. they claim it adds weight..
Personally i'm old school, 12/12 till the end.

If nothing else, wait as long as possible and dry in the attic...

If you have never seen the video of hte grandmas smoking weed for the first time (where the pic came from), it is great!

I personally err on the side of family respect. Thankfully I suppose, my in laws won't get on an airplane so they don't come here...

80's outside would be over 100 in the attic with the sun beating down on it.....unless you have very good ventilation up there. I have an attic fan in mine and when it's in the 80's outside, the attic is roasting hot. Plus it sucks moving water up that high...

I spent first few years of growing hiding it from everyone I know. It's a huge weight off my shoulders after I let them in on it. Most of them consume cannabis now for health reasons. I guess what I'm trying to say is, stop worrying. You're not doing anything wrong by growing that plant, unless YOU think it's wrong. You enjoy growing and consuming this plant, your in law will just have to put her big girl panties on and deal with it.

I clipped some off a branch a few days ago and dried it in a paper bag. Last night it was dry enough to throw in the bubbler. One medium sized rip got me pretty high and my wife mildly high (I hit it harder than she did). It was cerebral, euphoric, and very talkative--I liked it. I'm thinking about chopping it now, even though I'm a day or two shy of 8 weeks on a slower maturing strain. Since weed is legal here on July 1, I have a feeling a lot of our outwardly conservative/reserved industry friends and colleagues will open up about their closeted cannabis use. It would be nice to have something light and casual for smoking with them since this is such foreign and uncharted social territory.
