Dyna Gro first grow

So I just ordered some Dyna Gro online. I got the Grow, Pro-Tekt and Bloom. I've been looking up feeding schedules online for soil since this will be my first legitimate grow. I was wondering if anyone out there could point me in the right direction for a good feeding schedule for this lineup. Cheers!

Hey Klawski, I also use Dyna Gro and have had great results. I talk about watering in my journal if you want to check it out click the link in my signature.

Here is my recipe; feel free to change it around as you see fit. Remember, read your plants and not the internet!! They will tell you a LOT more than anyone else.

Pro-Tekt: 5ml/g Add this stuff first.
Mag Pro 2.5ml/g I use RO water so I am replenishing what I have removed.
Grow or Foliage Pro: 5ml/g (I use 2.5ml/g during the first two weeks of growth.)
Bloom: 7ml/g It's a bit less potent than the grow nutrients so a bit more is required to keep the same EC/PPM.

There you have it. Once you get a few grows under your belt, you can dial in what works best for your plants in your system. I flower with Grow, not Bloom as it tends to cause my fan leaves to yellow a bit earlier than I like.

Edit: I am growing in hydroponics and not soil so the above recipe may definitely need some tweaking.

Your best bet with any plant food brand is the grab a TDS meter and find out exactly how potent those bottles are. Once you know the ml/gal contribution of each product, you can then put something together in regards to the EC you like for each phase of growth/flower.

Here is a start for dirt; just use a couple mls per gallon of both protekt and grow for veg and double that for flower. Tweak based on what works best for you.

Homebrewer's info is a bit more accurate than mine....I purchase nutrients by the gallon, so I have a tendency to not measure PPM/EC as the bottles last a long time.

That chart makes a VERY potent solution. 1200ppm of DG will easily burn my plants. I aim for 700-800. Again, soil growing is not my specialty so you will have to see what works for you. Start weak and slowly work the levels to where you think they are best.

it is my first time with Dyna-Grow also. I give my flowering clones 2.0ml of bloom 2.0 ml of protekt and 1.0 ml of Grow and they are showing signs of yellowing and brown spots on the leaves, i give this recipe to them once a week. They are in Pro-Mix, should i be giving them this twice a week? should i be uping the amount of nutes? they are in week 3 of flowering.

If you're feeding in those amounts, you should probably be feeding at every watering. How big are your plants? What is the ppm of your water? Where is the yellowing?

My plants are all clones in the flowering stage there about a foot tall and already showing budsites. The yellowing is at the top leaves.

Should I feed with it being newly transplanted into FFOF?
When using soils with food in them, things can get a little complicated. Knowing that, I'd feed lightly after the plant is established.

Can you post a picture? Are you sure this 'yellowing' isn't just new growth? One foot tall plants are small, you may be over-feeding slightly.

Should I really use the Grow for flowering?

Your plants cannot read, so do not concern yourself with whatever word the manufacturer chooses as a descriptor for their product. "Grow" is 7-9-5; "Bloom" is 3-12-6. The numbers (and their ratios to each other) are what you want to focus on for plant health. As a soil grower, you have the option of amending your soil with plenty of nutrients before you drop in your seeds. If you have lots and lots of nitrogen in your soil, then 3-12-6 may be a better choice during the flowering phase. As a hydro grower using RO water, 3-12-6 is a fast way to yellow fan leaves.

Segway: I'm working with an Italian guy who has never heard The Grateful Dead. I had the live version of "Turn on Your Love Light" jamming on the ride home and he was digging it!!

Homebrewer: What happened to the thread Dyna-Gro is underated as ? That thread and following your threads got me interested in Dyna's nutes. You have had great success with these nutes, I am going to try to post some pictures of whats going on with my girls. But is there any guidline that can be followed for the Vegging phase and Flowering flowering phase? in ml's weekly. Is there a feeding chart that will get me through a successful grow with these nutes being a newbie to them. That would be much appreciated also very helpful.

dyna grow is cool and cheap. when you begin to learn more about the plants and the base and micro nutes you should try other brands. dyna really won't get you the yields of the more complex nutrient lines. good luck on the grow.
It's interesting you say that because DG or Jacks Classic is what people move to after they've learned more about what plants actually need. Those complex nutrient lines you're referring to, not only are they highly incomplete but 75% of those extra bottles in those lines will do nothing for yield. Have you ever asked yourself why nearly every experienced grower out there encourages the 'K.I.S.S.' mantra?

Can you provide a name of this more complex nutrient line which will provide better yields?
