DWC with ScrOG last minute questions!!!

So my plan is to set up a scrog with my 2 babies in separate DWC buckets. The hard part from what I understand is being able to change out the nutes still. So my plan is to set up an individual screen for each bucket. I am going to use 4 coat hangers on each bucket, sort of angled out and fastened to the bucket lid with hot glue. My plan is to have the screen about 1.5 feet high. Then, when I get enough of the screen filled up, I will start flowering. This should have my babies about 3 feet tall when all is said and done. I do not really have any vertical limitations, its just my light isn't too strong so I definitely want an even canopy when flowering. I don't have any time deadlines either so I dont mind vegging for 2 months if thats what it takes. My question is, does this set up sound like a good plan? Should I "lollipop" too and get rid of any growth that ends up below the screen so that the energy can be focused on the canopy?

sounds good, but you could also consider just placing the screen on the individual plant when you feel the hight is good for you, the plant will support the weight of the screen if you do not make it too rubust, and then you have free space all around. I have a plant currently going with a small temporarly screen set up like this.

Do you have any horizontal restrictions? IMO, its more effecient to top/supercropp your plant and bring the screen down much closer. That way when you go to clear out whats under the screen, its not a foot and a half of plant material. I've only completed one scrog, but it was painful to have to cut off weeks or more of growth. Wasteful too.

Hmmmm so you mean just sort of freely hanging a screen over the plant? I could imagine that the screen would be held up by the plant, but would it actually stop the plant from growing vertically too?

If you got some strong branching and you wait untill your tops have streached a bit, should work fine. I waited untill all my 4 tops have streeched and then I started tugging them under the screen(make sure you got some tight netting in the screen as well). You can keep the plant small by "FIM" early, and other techniques you like to use. I also like to keep strong air directly on the plant, shaking it, doing veg. This promotes stronger branching and slows streeching a bit as well. This is just for a small screen usage though. I plan on getting a larger screen myself, made out of some strong metal, some kind of metal fencing or grate would be great.

I put my temporary screen on to get the most yield out of this little test run I am doing, I had remembered seeing a youtube video of a grower who just had metal netting, like tomato cage, he just walked up to the plants, dropped the cage on them and returned a few days later to tug and pull a few branches in the cage, very simple and easy method :)

Even if you have some branches getting damaged, the plant is very strong and will quickly heal that spot or might even start making bud-sites coming out near the break.
