Are you starting from seed or plant? and which variety/strain is the strawberry. different varieties fruit at different times in the season, ( ie. june bearers, everbearers, day neutral). Im not certain which type would do best under lights. I have not read too much into it but I would also like to try to grow some strawberries indoors, maybe in a little ebb and flow. I have bought some alpine strawberry seeds which are supposed to be everbearing. Anyway, please keep us posted on your grow.

i have been thinking of doing some sweet corn. hell why not a hydro farm. we have winter so if i could grow alot of sweet corn i could sell it at the market people would love it.

i actually been dwelling around this site on a day to day basis since i joined i started making a 10 gallon dwc system but later decided (because i made it that it looked kinds sloppy) to make a new one, i just got it all set, i dont have much just using what i can household wise, and trying to make whatever else work.. i just took some young strawberry plants from my backyard and i am going to c how they'll do.. so ill post somethin later with some pics or something.

So does anybody know what happened with these grows?
I know this one....IT GREW... In a Deep water culture the water acts as the medium, The coco fiber/hydroton/rockwool or whatever is what you use to actually hold the plant in the mesh pot, but all of the nutrients are gained from the water. Seems there is alot of novice questions that can be answered by a great sticky provided here.

For more info on DWC's; here is a simple and straight foward explantion on how to get started (helped me greatly.)
How To: DWC

I made a little hydroponic bubbler out of a coffee can and a fishtank pump, and It worked great. cut a hole in the lid, put a yougert cup that I put holes in into the hole, run yr fish tank tube thru the lid, mini DWC for cheap....I made it specifically for strawberries, but the thing is, since I normally grow in soil as my choice of medium, I don't have hydroponic solutions around to feed them, other then miriacle grow plant food, and that was just to damn hot. what do strawberries like for the solution? any cheap ways of feeding them, other then going to my local hydro store and buying something like flora-gro? cool thread btw, I have been wondering about this for awhile now.
