DWC started same problems as always?

I dont grow meds, but I have grown veggies. I have had 0 problems of any kind, I don't know what is up with your grow. I have high(ish) res temps, no pump, pure white roots, and a room temp of ~85-90 and everything stays healthy as fuck lol. I am growing romaine, tomatoes, and peppers and all of them are doing well. Good luck.

whattup homes thought id swing back thru and take a look how things turned out. Looks like you new growth is doing better, much greener and happier then the first post. But now im readin about this rez problem your having, which makes me worry. Now that those roots have found their source of oxygenated water and yummy food their going to explode... at first.. Your gonna be hoppin up and down clapping your hands when things take off, but let me warn you sir.. expect some a wall of stunted growth or worse once they hit that algae. root rot is a terrible plague and a problem with dwc, ive come to seen in my beginning years.

So the solution.. at first I thought hmm what kinda water ok R/O should be clean no additives.. but then im thinking hm the alternative tap water. which makes me salivate and go mmm a slight amount of chlorine and other stuff im too asian eye'd to think of, think of a pool. Chlorine if you search a bit, in small amounts is actually ok for your Chica.. im not saying its growth hormones but as far as hydro goes itll do just fine. Second, I noticed your bucket is white with some mylar on top from what i remember. Make sure that thing is light proof, and just because it reflects some light doesnt mean its light proof. Get some black on that b**ch and then cover it with mylar or whatever.. Algae needs light to grow my man. Like I said before back to basics bro

ps: stop buying and adding a million things to your solution.. with all those uppers downers.. roofies and floories.. even i'd get stressed YA HEARD!!

Be good, keep growin

I just started vegging plants via DWC and I have been having really good success. I am using Gro Aqua by Supernatural nutes. It naturally buffers your water too.

Hmm well a little h202 after the ph spike has kept things level for 2 days! thinking aquashield is good for roots after res change till ph spikes come back then h202 seems to be working best.

Yes i know, but the non beneficial bacteria die as well. I dont think the aquashield was strong enough to fight what was infecting my system. Maybe next res change the aquashield will be good enough, but for now things are going good.

So uploading pictures has been glitchy but i think i got it.
Major clean yesterday took some pictures during it.

My dirty ass res, can barley see top of water bottle.

my plant sitting while i clean
IMG_0199.jpg

Not to much slime in bottom this time but some (anything not white)
IMG_0201.jpg

Running in bleach water to cleanse. Same thing with just water after a rinse of pumps and stones
IMG_0205.jpg

Some roots
IMG_0200.jpg

some roots about to get and being dunked in a weak h202 mix, h202 was poured through the top aswell after words poured balanced water through and dunked in clean water, the dunkings are only for 1-2 seconds but about 5 times or more
IMG_0206.jpgIMG_0207.jpg

finnaly a nice clean res with the aquashield again, ppm started at 377, will go up to 500 i think by end of weak, just dont wanna burn

so my ph has been going up ever since the res change, kinda driving me nuts. Never order from dirtworks, extremely long shipping. Still waiting to make my tea.

Bro, if I were you I would try using tap water and Zone at max strength. I run a sterile res, never touch the organics in hydro (not hating I run Organics in my vegetable garden), and I switched my reservoirs to coolers which worked two fold in light proofing them and insulating them. I only run chemical nutes and Zone in my res, I set it to 5.8 and check it every third day.

Also I would not use bleach to clean my reservoir as it leaves behind residual on plastic that will play havoc with your PH since bleach is so basic. I use H202 to clean my reservoirs every other change along with scrubbing them lightly and it works great
I ran my reservoirs around 76 for a while and didn't have any slime using tap water and Zone. The chlorine and the buffers in the tap water aid in stabilizing your water and keeping the junk out.

If you are still having problems after you get your tea in I would try this method. For me it is pretty simple. I keep all bacteria out of the res therefore I don't need to add any beneficial bacteria. IMO if your conditions were good you could run either method with great success, that is where I would start. Good luck and happy growing.

edited to add: Also if your running organics in tap water let the water sit out overnight with an airstone as the chlorine in the water can work against the beneficial bacteria your adding. Also don't use H202 in your res with any organics, your working against yourself!

Zone is so much easier to work with than dirt teas. I haven't had slime issues in a long while, but I still throw a dash of zone into every res for old times sake.

hmm that tap water idea has been bubbling in the back of my head. Next res change I will try that. My shipping time is literally killing my plant, debating some hate mail to my shipper i asked him why my package was sent more then a week after ordering and never recieved a response. Its suppose to be USPS shipping but they shipped USPS. I sent another email today saying why was it shipped late, why is it the wrong shipping and when can i expect my package. Im very close to cancelling the whole transaction.

EDIT: Its suppose to be UPS but they shipped USPS

Whoa. I have to comment on this. You're saying you grow safely with res temps at a constant 80-83? Or are you talking air temp?

And if you are saying res temps at 80-83, you've had no problem and AN is your nute?
Yes that is what I am saying, and I am not reading my Hannas temperature gauge incorrectly.
Air temps during the summer were 83-88, clearly the water temps would be right around the room temp.
Yes A.N all thee way.

I suggested tap water in the very beginning, glad to see you have come around.

not quite yet haha but i do have a bucket sitting out now, do you let yours sit out for a day. Some people argue that the clorine actually helps but im hesitant about that

Yes 24 hours should be fine. I use an airstone to help the process along. The chlorine may actually be what keeps my root problems away.. Who knows for sure.

I'll let the ladies speak for themselves..

I don't let me water sit out 24 hrs.. but that's because I know what's in it. Do a water quality report check.
