you got bubbles going in there right ? how high do you keep the water level? by the looks of your hydroton and net pot you dont have any water on them. when the root is that size id still leave the water at the bottom to a lil bit up the netpot till you get some more roots.

Nope u just need to make sure u get some bubble stones in ur resivor or else ur plants will suffocate. Ur stones should be moist. All the nurtients are in the water and thats where u want ur roots to be. THey will NOT dry out if u have bubble stones in ur tub because the little bubbles make every thing inside the lid moist.

look up stealth hydroponics and notice they use a water pump with dripper tubes poked thru the net pot - you have lots of o2 in the water from the air stones now get one of those dribbling water down the roots and you wont have that problem anymore . dwc without it is a pain because you have to monitor the water level too closely . the stealth hydro way i just top up the res once a day or 2 because i dont have to worry about how close the pots are too the water - in fact you increase the distance a little to regulate o2 uptake .

they recommend watering evry hour for a few minutes once roots hit the water - but when i did that i immediately noticed a slow in growth so i leave pump running 24/7 the growth rate is amazing even to growers a little older than me .

I hope I can help; Fully submerge the root mass, it will start to grow rapidly as long at there is sufficient oxygen in the water the plant will grow.
If you only have the one plant move the airstone right under the roots.
It will not hurt the plant to have a fully submerged root mass, as soon as you have alot of roots and they start to get more length reduce the water levels in the resevoir accordingly.
