and i have a plant in veg right now that is just about the same size and it drinks a 1/2 gal a day. so 1/2 a quart is not good

I know this is an old post, but recently I had the same problem. My Autoflower (Week 6, week 2 of flowering) would drop ph from 5.8 to 4.8 overnight and the ppm would remain the same. This was going on for a few days and I kept adjusting the ph not knowing whats going on.

I came across this post, and found your suggestion, moved my air pump out of the tent and what do you know.. problem solved!!
