I am very new to this, so i wanted to ask and make sure.

here is the directions i found

Alright here is where i am confused. the direction say to get a Get a 1 gallon jug and fill it with water. Following all of the directions it says Pour in your mixture of nutrient water to your 5-gallon bucket. Fill the bucket just enough so that the water level is just touching the bottom of your net pot.

So you only nute 1 gallon of water and add it to the rest of your normal water? or do you have to Nute every single gallon with the Lucas formula?

So i only add nutes to 1 gallon of water and add it to the water already in the bucket? Or i have to nute all 4ish gallons already in the bucket and they just wrote it weird?

I’m very new to growing and DWC as well but hope I can help. I’m reading this and it’s saying to nute 1 gallon of water first then add it in the “4gallon tub” (which is nothing but the water you are using). I think the reasoning for this is because to avoid nute lockout to the whole batch of water. Diluting it before....

What week are you in? 8ml,16ml seem like a lot of nutes for early plants. I’m guessing that should be for the one gallon only.

Hope this helps.

Thats per gallon,So if you need 4 gallons worth. In separate bucket mix 32ml and 64ml with 4 gallons stir and add.It can be 2 gallons in the mixing bucket and two of straight in your plant doesn't matter.

that way would work but i think it's easier just to add all your water to the desired height first, then add your micro, stir very well, then add your bloom and stir again.

and like @myke said, 8/16 will burn the heck out of small plants. i usually started at 1mL micro/2mL bloom per gallon for tiny seedlings and then move up from there. the 1:2 ratio is what's important. i could only get as high as 4/8 or 5/10 on my plants before i got tip burn.

This is where i am confused. yet again..

What gets nuted? 1 gallon.. or the full 4 gallons i am planning to use?

If you read my link here

it reads like he is just nuting 1 gallon and running the system like that.

so here is my question.

do i nute 1 gallon in the separate bucket then add that bucket to where the plant is going to be? or do i use the formula to nute ALL 4 gallons?

Also i understand that i don't want to use as much as they are saying.. i am just better trying to understand what is being told to me.. so say i go to start a run... as soon as i figure out how much of this shit i am suppose to use.. i can make fine adjustments.

Do i use Flora Micro – 8 ml Flora Bloom – 16 ml in one gallon.. add it to 3 gallons of water and run that?

or since i am going to be running about 4 gallons of fluid.. do i go 32 ml of Flora micro and 64 ml of flora bloom?

You can mix 20 gallons worth in a 5 gallon bucket,If your pail/plant has 4 gallons of plain water in it you can mix 4 gallons worth in a quart of water just pour your mix in slowly and mix as its going in.Just start low and keep the 2;1 ratio.

The website is telling you to nute the one gallon and put it in the 5gallon bucket. Then top with water. (But you have to put all the “4-5 gallon” nutes in the 1gallon container)

Their measurements with nutrients seems to be a lot like when we were saying earlier. Those measurements are per gallon total you are using. Use the suggested measurements @myke said you should be good. Slow and low then you can crank it up after.

How it works
  1. Get a 1 gallon jug and fill it with water.
  2. Add 8 ml of Flora Micro and 16 ml of Flora Bloom.
  3. Shake it up to ensure all nutrients mix thoroughly.
  4. Get your PH pen and test the mixture. The ideal PH for DWC is around 5.8. If you’re getting a reading 5.5 or below, or 6.2 or above, adjust your PH to get as close to 5.8 as possible. Just add a little bit of PH Up/Down at a time, as to not over adjust.
  5. Pour in your mixture of nutrient water to your 5-gallon bucket. Fill the bucket just enough so that the water level is just touching the bottom of your net pot. How high you wish to fill the DWC bucket is up to you. I usually keep the water line about an inch or so above the bottom of the net pot.

this guy/girl doesn't know what he/she is talking about. lots of errors in this advice.
1. you need to shake bottle after adding micro
2. you don't pH just 1 gallon of nute mix. you pH the entire volume in your 5 gal bucket after it thouroughly mixed.
3. he's really only using 8/16 in about 3 to 3.5 gallons of water (depending on how much it takes to get to the bottom of the netpot)

take your 5 gal bucket. mark the level on the side of where you want your water level. fill it up to that level AND keep trackof how much water you add.

if you add 3 gallons, start with a mix of 3:6 micro/bloom so 9mL micro/18mL bloom. add micro, stir well. add bloom, mix well. pH to desired range. done. change it out in 7 to 10 days. work your way up to 4:8 then 5:10 then 6:12 etc

It depends how ocd you are. I just mix it in the 5 gal pail. I mix another 5 gal pail when I need to top up the buckets and put in a couple pitchers full. easy peasy. I use the 5/10 ratio too, that's all my sativas can handle.
at some point, mixing all your nutes in 1 gal will become an issue. say if you were mixing for a 40 gal res. too many nutes ,not enoguh water=lockout.
