Straight to business. I am growing Northern Lights and berry bomb (first 3 Berry bomb last two NL) in DWC 5 gal buckets using foxfarm trio and aqua shield beneficials. reservoirs are insulated with reflectix and stay at around 70-75*F they are under a 400 watt HPS.

These plants are 3 1/2 weeks old and have only been in the buckets for 1 week as i grow in red party cups until root bound then transfer to bucket.
i fed them 3 tsp of grow big as they are still around seedling stage 2 tsp of aqua shield and 1 tsp of dissolved Epsom salts for Magnesium.

well.....they are looking a little yellow in spots and the berry bomb has some brown spots any ideas?
thanks for your imput!

EDIT: forgot to mention the ph drops like .03 every 12 hours in the berry bomb and .01 in the NL. I'm not sure of my ppm I have a meter on the way but amazon is taking FOREVER to deliver.

Ever think that maybe they didn't have any advice to give you?

Nice attitude.

DWC is hard for most because it's so sensitive. I've done it for 17 years straight. First let's look at your water out of the tap. Do you have a ppm meter? If your PH is dropping it means your water has little buffering ability.

Take water and pH it then leave it to sit for a day or two. Check the pH and adjust again if needed. Then use your EC meter to add correct amount of nuts for your strain and stage.

I have a PPM meter on the way so i am mixing the nuts light according to the fox farms bottle until it arrives. (stupid amazon.... i ordered it 3 weeks ago.)

As for my water i am getting it straight from the tap letting it sit in an open 5 gallon bucket at room temp for 24 hours phing it and pouring it into the grow bucket and adding nuts epsom salt and aquashield.
(i haven't done a rez change yet i planned to do it at the 2 week mark according to the fox farms bottle.)

oh and i forgot to mention i added the epsom salt because i noted very small amounts of magnesium in Grow Big.
Of course i am also waiting on some Cal-Mag from amazon which will be used insted of epsom salt moving forward.

Fox Farm Trio does not go well with dwc period. I was using the same setup a few months ago and got rid of it becasue i couldnt keep the ph under control. Some of those nutrients are organic and it just doesnt mix with dwc. Ph will always be an issue if you continue using FF. Switch to General Hydroponics flora series of Advanced Nutrients Ph Perfect LIne, these are your best bets. Trust me on this, clean out your res and scrap the ff nutes.

I was actually reading up a bit on FF nuts and found the same thing out on the interwebs that it doesn't mix too great with hydro.
But im frugal and i invested about 60 bones in the trio so i don't just want to trash em...if i ph the buckets every 12 hours will i be able to grow it out with FF minus the organic one?
(after reading your post I noticed the trio has 1 regular bloom and 1 organic bloom, for some reason i was thinking it was micro nutrients)
and of course once its all gone i was going to use the ph perfect stuff

I suggest making a new batch with 1/2 or even 1/4 the nutes you used, with a few capfuls of h2o2 to keep the pathogens from multiplying in there. Little girls like that dont need much nutes, and if you give them too much the roots just sit there not growing, cause they already have everything they need! Why go look for more?

And i agree to swap your nute line. Use ff for your mothers in soil, or something.

Good luck!

First, I found your pissed off rant hilarious. But seriously, there are quite a few very good mj grow books that answer >95% of your questions, without getting your nickers in a twist. Many are in Barnes and Noble stores, but can also be ordered on line. I have 3 and refer to them often.

Each time I review them I have an 'aha' moment

Maybe this gets answered later, but do you know what the ppm % of Ca + Mg is in your tap, or what the tap ppm is? Contact your water department for analysis. They can email it Too much, or too little causes issues when combining with nutrients that may or may not contain enough, too much...

Typically you get lock out

ASAP order Hydroponic-Research VEG+BLOOM. It's a one step DRY mix. 2 formulas, one for tap, one for RO

lol yeah i kinda lost it, i felt like wtf this is the place for growers to get help and no one is showing any love. (at that point that is)
that being said can you please describe what Hydroponic-Research VEG+BLOOM is and how it differs from normal nuts?

You never want to adjust your PH more then once every three days or so. Changing it every 12 hours will more then likely cause the plants to not grow.

Maybe you missed this in my prior post "It's a one step DRY mix. 2 formulas, one for tap, one for RO"

Google it and read.

God you're a PITA

So I checked it out and it seems pretty legit. Drop in a measured scoop of powder and dissolve in a clean 5 gallons....apparently no pH needed either!
thank you PetFlora for introducing me to this awesome kiss method.

How quick do they ship? I ordered a 1 lb can of the hard water solution since im using tap water and im wondering if i should start a flush in prep yet.
EDIT: Or can you just do a clean change according to the feeding chart?

You are welcome. Should save you a lot of unnecessary headaches that I went through as a hydro Noob

FYI, the star below your icon (which looks like a young Demi Moore) is to add REP, on the far right is a Like button

Shipping depends on where you live v where they are (I think southern California), then an extra day or so due to holiday packages taxing the delivery systems

Flush at 50% until it arrives
