Hi,

I am not anywhere near flush time.. But want to be sure I have that entity clear ....

I am growing a large scrogged single girl in a 20l res. I am feeding her Canna Aqua and the rest of the main CANNA nuits.. Ie: Vega A B Florez A B Rhyzo. Zym, 13 14, and Boost.. and may add an additive called FRUIT MACHINE if I havent missed that window yet.

Along time ago,... My first ever grow actually... I grew the same strain as the current one.. But fed her until the end ..she grew BIG under 2 old skool 90w plurple UFOs....BUT !! despite the huge colas was airy REALLY airy.. But after drying and curing the buds CRACKLED and FIZZED and were it tasted bad too.. !!!

I defo dont want to make that mistake again.

Ive always flushed my 20l res with PH 5,8 tap water for 10 days when all trichs are cloudy and no amber insight yet.. and usually when the 10 days is up shes yellowed out and trich ratio is aprox 90 cloudy 10 light amber.. and generally the produce is fine in quality..

HOWEVER !!!

I keep reading now that growers are feeding till the very end until they are chopped !??????? o_Oo_O ???

I get that the buds will grow denser and fill out more etc... But what about the NUTRIENT TASTE and the FIZZING POPPING and CRACKLING and bad burn quality,..???

Am I missing a trick. ???

This is a DWC 20l , Fem, Vegged for 4,3 months aprox 2 weeks into flower scrogged with over 320 tops/potential colas.. and using mainly CANNA AQUAs line.

I dont wanna F this up.. But if I can feed longer without worry or concern that the buds will still hold nuits etc...

PLEASE EXPLAIN................... ??

Ill add a couple of pics of her tommoz... Many Thanks in advance - FS/STELTHY :leaf:

Lol, whilst honest, not helpful... If I can feed longer without risk of ruing the quality of the bud and smoke .. Id like to do so.. But I want advice from growers with similar setups in DWC that can offer up some useful advice as to A whether its worth it and B and what steps to take etc.. - STELTHY :leaf:

Flushing is a sham imo. Lots here share the same view. I've never done it.
If you must, run fresh water the last 2-3days before you chop, not more than that.

flushing has been scientifically debunked. taste is all in the dry+cure and genetics (assuming cultivation practices are on point)
listen to your plants. they will tell you when/if to ease up on the food

I keep hearing similar things.. I am tempted this time round to go with the 2 to 3 day flush.. As I dont like the idea of smoking nuits... - STELTHY :leaf:

Have you a LINK to where its been debunked..?..call me old skool but am having trouble getting my head round it...also what drying and curing methods do you practice..?? - STELTHY:leaf:

It's what you feed at the end. You don't want too much phosphorous or nitrogen for sure. Late in flower you still want potassium, magnesium, sulfur for example so the plant can form terpenes (flavor and smell).

So it's not about stopping the feed but changing it.

Would you say feed on normal strength nuits until the point id normally flush (10 days) but instead of just cutting to just PH balanced water... To go from the medium feeding chart down to light feeding or half strength nuits instead..?.. - STELTHY :leaf:

I just read them both..it appears the full feed to the end seems the way to go.. I am skeptical though..only because the test were on their own line of nuitrients in the plants tissue etc.. I wonder how other brands nuitrients and amounts of nuits would fair under the same strict and controlled testing..?

Also it says the medium used was coco .. Would the results differ if in DWC Hydro or Soil..??

Really you just have do some side by sides then, as most experienced growers have done. I have been growing for over 30 years and I am always learning. Run a few experiments. See what works for you. Reduced feed, no feed, full strength feed.

I feed roughly the same PPM during ripening but I feed differently, less of this, more of that. There is a million different recipes and methods, you have to figure out what you like, what works best for you. Nobody can answer the question to your satisfaction and there are many different opinions.

Well the airy buds are due to poor lighting obviously. You can veg ok under those but flowering is lacking. As to flavor, that could have already been compromised before the ripening phase.

Thats too many nodes per square foot thus they are all runty and stunted.
That's not a problem ..shes only 2 weeks into flower and the first tops havent appeared yet... so still have a ton of defoliating to do...

I've done big plants before that's not a problem for me .. but I dont wanna screw up a yield that big (3x3) if the quality is gonna suffer ... i am tempted to try it..i guess it's down to me .. but would like to hear from someone ideally who's experienced with Canna Aqua DWC and flushing .. - STELTHY :leaf:

That is honestly the most nodes per square foot that I have seen, ever. If you went through and removed all the smaller ones, leaving say 8 per square foot, then you would get much better results. As it stands, a large portion of those nodes will not get any light and are just there to cause mold.

I have never done a SoG or ScroG and had good results using more than 4 colas per square foot. I could see packing them tighter if your light lacks penetration but then you are only getting the very top bud, anything below that should be lolipopped.
