DWC are they easy to use

Hey all just want any feed back on deep water set ups, are they hard to maintain . I don't want to kill any plants by doing something wrong, and I was wondering what everyone thinks.... Should u just let your plants grow wild or keep them nicely manicured?

dwc is very simple. you dont really want to let your plant grow wild unless its outside. they dont have to be "nicely" manicured but a little cutting n shit wont hurt anything.

My DWC is exceptionall simple.
5gal bucket, net pot, and a couple of air-stones(lots of air).

I've thinned, and lollpoped...this time I only removed the leaves that were dead/dying, biggest yeild to date.

This is just me. For a noob DWC grower I recommend, Advanced Nutrients Ph Perfect, 3-part, with the Hobbyisy Grow bundle.
It's easy to use and almost idiot proof at 80% recommended strength.

I've used AN for about a year, now I've decided to give DNF a try.

Have fun, and good luck

Im currently running my first dwc right now, just flipped to 12/12 friday I vegged em for around 7 weeks I lst'd the shit out of them and tied them down like a motherfucker just to keep that even canopy. Overall with my first dwc I'm very pleased, it is very simple but I caution you that it is much less forgiving than soil, they will need food from the get go. Since this was my first try with it I battled some major deficiencies early on. Stunted the girls pretty bad but I trimmed the dead leaves perfected my feeding GH trio and liquid seaweed and they made full recovery after about a week and then my growth shot through the roof. Overall I'm very pleased, like the above poster said just buckets and air stones lol. I will say you have to watch them closer though, my biggest girl drinks about a gallon of water and nutes everyday so I have to maintain her everyday or it will drink it up pretty fast. Nothing like soil in that aspect. They definitely drink a lot more. Other than that and res changes every week its easy. I don't mind the res changes because I like to mess around with the plants anyways. With dwc I know I have something to do to them everyday or two. Hope that helps some

You will need to have a ph pen and ppm pen which is an up front 150$ + investment.

Wrap buckets in a few layers of silver bubble wrap for insulation and light proofing.

Probably want to buy Aquashield to stop algae from growing.

You can use frozen 1L bottles of ice once a day to keep temps high 60s if you insulate your buckets or have low ambient temps.

No light leaks into the bucket.

Get a fish net to scoop shit out of your buckets.

Make sure you have plenty of bubbles.... not enough bubbles = root rot. This means you prob need a 60 - 80$ commercial air pump if you are doing more than 2 or 3 five gallon buckets.

I like Dyna-Gro Grow because it's everything the plants need in 1 bottle and it's simple/cheap. The Pro-Tekt silica is good to run too. So if you went with that you would need DG Grow, DG Pro-Tekt, Botanicare Aquashield, PH Up/Down.

Wasn't to sure about cutting them back but I will keep them trimmed just a little so some light will make it to the base

DWC is IMO the simplest hydro method for sure but all hydro setups require more time and care than a soil grow. As said a Ph pen and TDS pen are a must as is RO water.

I dot rate dwc and I'll say why
If your electric goes out your fucked' roots sitting in still water is not a good thing

Coco FTW

Construction on my system is underway will post pics of set up soon. Grow g13 haze some called kamo and a few mystery plants. Hopefully they all go sweet. Everyone has helped heaps,

Plus some say keep your water level up to your baskets the whole time but others say lower the water level so the roots are half in the water and half out... Any suggestions on that would be great

I let mine drink water down and change it weekly with a fresh mixture. She's loving it and I'm still not at full strength on my nutes. Never have been....
