Dwc and growstones.

This is my first dwc and I'm using growstones. My stones don't seem to be wicking. I set the water level to just under the 10 inch net pot, and at about half way up the net pot. Still no wicking/capillary effect.

So raise the water or lose some stone?

Mind you my clone is itty Bitty.

Any info fellas?

Hydroton doesn't wick either bro. You will have to top feed until the roots are submerged in the water. Then they will bring water up to the plants.

How big is your plant that it's in a 10in pot?

There should be a complete layer of hydroton/stone at the bottom of the net pot, then you set the roots there and fill up the pot gently.

You put the water level so it covers the bottom of the pot, as the roots get into the water, slowly drop the level to 1 or 2 inches below the bottom of the pot.

Lot of air, DWC needs lots of air.

And root treatment.

Well I chose to use different clones. They are about 6 inches. 3 inch roots. Just stuck one in my flood n drain, waiting a bit on the dwc for more info.

And yeah big net pot. I grow trees medically. Prob shoulda got a 6 inch too.

Ty guys

It's the 10 inch net pots. Shit can't wick through 5 inches on each side.

I use 6 inch and find my growstones wick TOO much with absorbent mediums like rockwool.

You also waste less stones. I recently started using smartpots #3 in my f&d and wow...Used like 4 times the stones as I normally do.
