Dutch Passion LED

I'm looking to buy a LED set-up to try 'em out. I live in the EU, so, unfortunately, I can't buy LED set-ups stateside because of the shipping and customs prices which make it too expensive.

Obviously, I can find some relatively cheap LED modules on Ebay and such, but most of them are only red and blue and also seem to be cheaply made. They don't show you the insides, but I'm sure the plastic looking outside is indicative of the inside parts. Also, they don't have any fans or vents to cool the LEDs a bit...which, as I understand, don't heat up too much but still heat up and can affect their performance.

I came across Dutch Passion's LED offer which is just a rebranded Grow Northern LED...it seems legit and they throw in 100 euros of free seeds as well. The price is Euro 355 with shipping. Here is the link:

I just wanted to know if anyone has any experience with these lights and your opinions on them!

That light is not made by grownorthen its a cidly. Gn just order that light with custom spectrum thats all. Order it direct from gn they will send for free all over europe.

I think its the best led light for your plants at this moment yes better then a51 and the rest?

if you can wait 3 weeks look around and china makes tons of led's and so does other countries. just make sure to get 400 too 700nm range covered with red/blue/violet and one that has 7k- 10k white led also. if you area is 3x4 go with 3 watt diode setup if 6x6 go with 5 watt diode setup. $300 is usd is the max you should pay for a 5watt setup.

You are correct sir^^^............GN doesn't make their lights.... it is in fact a cidly apollo panel at way higher prices http://www.cidly.com/Apollo.html

if you live in Europe then these are the best on the market:

http://www.valoya.com/products finland
http://www.heliospectra.com/products-solutions/l4a-s20 sweden (not consumer/for research)
http://astirgrows.com/en/3-led-panels greece

Buy better quality or you'll regret it later with those cheap chinese/ebay/alibaba panels IMO..............good luck

Thank you PSUAGRO for that great list! I have been doing a bit of searching and have narrowed my choices down to Plantphonics, Bonsai hero and Astir for Europe. My grow size is 90cm x 90cm but I don't use all that space, so the 90Watt by Plantphonics and the 80W by Bonsai seem to be the best choices. The Astir has some crazy shipping costs and I would have to order multiple panels...I'm waiting on a response from them.

...and then I looked at Area 51...the price and quality is right...just need them to work with me on the customs charges and I might just go that route!

If anyone has any other ideas, let me know...

I know some people are saying that it's expensive but I am still considering it cause, in the end, it really only costs 220 Euros cause they throw 100 Euros in seeds which I'll eventually need anyway! That's why I'm leaning towards it. Jeremy at GN said the difference between the DP one and theirs is that the DP light is one generation behind. The GN light has been upgraded to include different spectrums and is also compatible with the Rebel module series...but still costs around Euro 300...I'm still looking around which is actually making my decision all that more difficult!

dutch passion, groblue, agromax, fero, grow northern, and 20 others I can't think of right now are all the same light. Rebranded apollos from cidly.

budmaster are rebranded bysen

vipar is good its evergrow. but still a good company

So, I haven't heard back from vipar yet but I heard back from Astir and the guys are willing to cut me a deal on the base price of the panels (cause I'll need like 6 or 8) so I'm leaning a bit towards them. The shipping is still a bitch (Euro 60), but Greece ain't exactly in the center of mainland europe, so I can cut 'em a break on that. Also, I like the fact that the panels are hand-made (so to speak) and not just rebranded chinese versions. Now, I'm at a crossroads between three different makers:
ASTIR
BONSAI
VIPAR
I'm just awaiting VIPAR's reply to some of my questions and, then it's decision time! Vipar being rebranded Evergrow does make me want to maybe research going directly to the manufacturer...I could proabably wait a bit for the light as I currently have a grow going using Cfls and am looking into the led for the next grow or to supplement this grow and go from there...

The astirs use Chinese leds. They build them very well though. Passive cooling. Guod, sailor, ganja and more have had really good grows with them. Hans (bonsaihero) is a high quality light. Uses cree and osram leds. Probably most bang for watts and $$$. Psuagro, multipass, and a few others have had great grows with them too

GN may use the same case as a cidly apollo but there optics , lenses & inner workings are completely different ...just coz the cover looks the same dont make it the same quality LED .... I know that GN put a lot of R&R into there product & thats what sets them above the rest .... I bought a LED that looked exactly like a blackstar from china before i bought the GN unit & the china cheap LED didn't grow my plants....it killed them . With LED you get what you pay for & IMHO the BS & GN are top quality ,bottom line units that are proven to grow fat buds ...get one that looks the same from another company & you may well be cutting your own throat :wall: .... its all about the optics ,lenses ,spectrum & lens angle ...china dont give a fuck about any of that as theres always some mug who thinks coz they look the same they must perform the same

Get a GN unit from DP or there site & you will be good to grow :bigjoint:

there new rebel upgrades that can go into existing units are the top of the range Phillips diodes ect ...

I kinda figured all leds were chinese in the end...just some are better quality that others. I've been reading the posts and journals by sailor, guod and psuagro for more info as well...i came to the conclusion though that those guys could probably have a great grow with a candle  ! The info they give though has been very enlightening and also a bit intimidating! Hans has been great in answering my questions ASAP and his LED panels look and perform great too...I might just order from him in the end!

You've actually pretty much summed up all of my doubts...and that's why I've been wavering between certain middle-men and direct builders...even if some say that the "such and such" is just a rebranded Cidly, etc." My doubts begin to creep up even more cause the people saying this have all the creds and proof to show.
GN is still on my list but if I choose them, I am torn between going through DP (with free seeds!) or GN (which has the same set-up, just one generation advanced) for about the same price.

Nobody has actual hands on experience with the Dutch Passion LED? I've been thinking about getting another light and the Dutch Passion LED seems like a good deal but I want to make sure it works good before I plunk down my coin. Choice B for me is an Area 51 because I haven't heard a bad review yet on it.
