Dust Cover for Carbon Filter

Hey guys, just wondering how you clean the dust cover that goes over a carbon filter. I am running 3 carbon filters and all the dust covers are getting dirty and I am wondering if that's why they aren't as efficient as they once were. I was thinking of throwing them in the washer, or maybe vacuuming the outside with a shop vac. Anyone have a good way to clean these and has cleaning them made a difference? Thanks!

Cant tell for sure, I throw mine away as in my situation thy seem counter-productive but I would probably just give 'em a gentle hand wash with a bit of soap, they seem like they might disintegrate in the washer, at least those used on prima-klima filters that I use.

How new are those filters, maybe its just the carbon that's getting spent?

One is a year old but it is a mountain air and I was told they last 2 years at least. The other is only 6 months old.

Hmm, they're fairly new then. Anyways, while you take the covers off to wash see if you notice any improvement in their effectiveness - if not then it may not be the covers after all. Check ducting for punctures as well.
