you are in maine growing outside in winter? the plant is only 20" tall and budding out? i think there might have been a seed mixup. that plant looks really good but isn't a sativa imo. my dp gets to be 7'+, has narrow leaves and takes forever to bud. pic looked like lowryder or some other dwarf mix. ???? j

I'm sure the purple is cold related, I've never seen purple dp before.
Then again Durban is a very temperate place with temps pretty constant in the 20's year in and out.

Sativa's respond very much to the size of the container they are in, have grown local bagweed with 4" circumference stems before... In fact I think the dry stem is still out somewhere in the backyard. Looks like a stick ora fat cane. I had to chop all the branches off to harvest as there was no way to get the rootball out of the ground.

Ten years back I went to Joburg and needed a bit of smoke for the three weeks I was there so I asked my private taxi driver to get me some weed and gave him 200 r. which was about 20 euros at the time. He came back with Durban Poison, unfortunately with seeds, a lovely smoke but guys I was so surprised to receive 3 ounces. I had a great time although many days I do not recall. Unfortunately I had to leave an ounce behind.

Yep, in SA you will only find seedless from a few hydro ops... Generaly the stuff on street is wild grown and males don't get culled, so seeds is almost a given.

Oh ok then it is your temp, You are alittle late for the average outdoor season, thats why it is so small, cus as me move closer to winter we move further away from the sun thus less photosynthasis..

Strains turn purple do to cold nights, no matter if there a purple strain or not, in my opinion purple is not strain specific, I sometimes drop my temps at end of my cycle making my white widow go purple, I have smoked a far share of non purple Durban poisen as well:bigjoint:
Wow, you sure know it all buddy. Because you can get your indica/sativa hybrid to turn purple just by lowering the temp. Boy I can't wait to try your method on a tropical sativa that doesn't even have the anthocyanin gene in its genetic makeup. Man this is gonna be a breakthrough in science!
