Fast forward to 2019. 25 feet of insulated ducting is only 32 dollars +5 dollars shipping on ebay. And thats for 8 inch 6 inch is ever cheaper $29 and change shipped. I bought from this exact person. Definately worth it for all the reasons above, quieter by far and reduces radiant heat, only a degree or 2 but definately worth an extra 20 dollars up front... Actually easier to work with than other ducting for me, its not EXACTLY 8 inches you can actually slide it over a hood without fighting it for an hour its like a hair bigger it slips right on first try, clamp it on, duck tape or duct tape around the edge just in case for air tightness, then just zip tie or duck tape the insulation itself around the opening. Super easy to work with For me.

Heres the links 8" on top 6" on bottom

I just today installed both actually and insulated is a heck of allot quieter. I got the silver color instead of black. It was 3$ cheaper for same length. I guess black is too cool for school? 6" x 16' for 16$
