ducting help

I think it would help a little, maybe 10 DB's imo. In my grow it seems like most of the noise isn't coming from the ducting itself

I have a 6 inch fan for a 2x4 and i have it turned down half way and have the fan in a carboard box with packing peanuts in it with the carbon filter, it barely makes any noise. my 24 inch room fan on the second lowest setting is louder

you have a duct for a 3foot by 3foot tent? damn... lol... what strain r u growing? does it really stink that bad that you need to move air out like that?

I got mine on Amazon, a duct booster..the cheapest they have. It works GREAT keeps my 2x3x5 area cool but it's loud as fuck. What to compare it to? A hairdryer or one of those hand dryers in public restrooms. Ducting is necessary for a grow tent if you have heat issues or want to get your light closer to the plants. With my cooltube before ducting it to the exhaust the temp was 90, afterwards it was 74. I can get the 400w a hell of a lot closer which means more lumens.

agree, a cool hood or tube is the way to go, specially in small rooms/tents as it not just cut the top of the temps but also allow you to keep it much closer

about noise, a 6" will make some, but some insulated Alu dutching and insulated plywood box for the ventilation will take of the most and surely you wont have to run it at full in a small tent like that or it will pull in the sides of the tent, keep just a bit of under pressure to ensure all smelly air is going out through your filter and not any leaks ..

p.s.
if space is a issue and you need to build a box to keep the noise down you could place the box/ventilation outside the tent and just run the dutching to it ..

im running an air cooled hood also my plan was to have the fan outside the closet with the duct running to the tent in the closet

sounds like a plan, make sure you have a few passive intake holes (rule of thump is 2-3x the size of the outtake =12-18") located near the floor and the outtake dutching up high as hot air travels up, the insulated Alu dutch is only a bit more expensive then the normal kind maybe 40$ per 10M or sumthing like that, with a 6" on speed control it shouldn't be a problem running a few meters, tho do try to keep bends and lenght on a minimum

filter will also take off about 20% of the effect of your ventilation, but Im sure your good, and made a good choice to get a big ventilation with speed control ;)
normal a filter have a life time of a year roughly, and wont be needed wile the plants are small in Veg, I normal fist fit my filter once they begin to stink, and belive me they will stink, a filter is a must, no excuse and a ventilation to and even more important, not just to clear the odour or keep temps down but to provide the plants with fresh air/co2
