duct fan confusion?

also what is the size of the side which the air sucks in to?

is the "flange" the side which sucks air in? or is the flange the side which pushes air out(in the picture the side which the carbon filter is on pushes air out)

You can pull (preferably) air through or push (less efficient but doable) air through a filter. The filter flange makes no difference as it is capped on the other end. There may be a mismatch if you have to turn the fan around. That is what others have been trying to say in this thread. You may need a piece of duct hose, a reducer, or simply duct tape to make attachments.
Do you have this setup in hand yet? If not, it will all be clear once you get it.

so if i connect the carbon filter to the other side(the side which sucks air in) and put this(below in link [6"] between them, would that be sufficient?

No, it's blowing OUT the right end. Put the filter on the other end. Use a short piece of flex duct and two clamps if you need to. I can't believe you put the filter on the wrong end.

The fan doesn't need to be directly connected right next to the filter. Use flex hose (duct) or whatever you need between the two to make the connection. How big is your tent?
hopefully if i ever get "done" by the enforcement agencies, then that condition/excuse will hold in court

haaaahaaaaaaa. funny shit dude. but u have to figure this out. do u understand what the filter and fan r going to be doing? sounds like u need to go to a hardware store and get a sheet metal duct reducer. get a tape measure.

If you show them this thread, you would have a good case.
Once you have everything in hand:
1. Put on your helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and safety glasses.
2. Plug the fan in and notice which way it "blows" and which way it "sucks".
3. Sit and think a bit.
4. Resist the urge to stick any appendages in either end of the fan
5. Sit and think for a bit.
6. Notice that the filter has one way (end/flange) in or out.
7. Sit and think for a bit.
8. I'm now bored with the subject. Send everything back for a refund.
