dual arc vs. hps for veg

Hey guys i have always used hps from seed to harvest but i recently got a dual arc bulb and i was wondering what you think would be better for veg. The dual arc or the hps. I will use the hps throughout the flowering period but will the dual arc give me tighter nodes during veg. Any advice is appreciated. Peace stay high :bigjoint:

probably, but lumens aren't what a plant uses, lumens are for the human eye. The mixture of spectrum with the dual arc bulb helps promote denser and more potent buds.

Dual arcs are good for flowering as red light isn't needed until flowering. The added cost for a dual arc bulb rather than HPS isn't worth it. IMHO it's best to use T-5 6500K in veg and depending on the flower room size and plants 400/600/1000 HPS. If you feel you need blue light in flower add a MH along with HPS. Most people in my experience use 2 HPS to 1 MH. People also use a dual bulb hood and put one MH and one HPS in it. Adding blue light in flower will encourage your plants to veg more in flower. Again IMHO using just t-5 blue light in veg and switching to HPS in flower will produce plenty of high quality cannabis with out any hoopla.

Dual arc and full spectrum bulbs are a waste of money. So are conversion bulbs. If you really need to save money buy a MH/HPS switchable ballast so you can run either. Again just IMHO.

i would save the dual arc, and use it throughout flowering
remember it only has so much life, and they cost more, which is why people don't want them
more economical to have them seperate and replace bulbs seperately

understand that when deciding when to use the bulb
i'd use the HPS for veg, unless i could get a MH or some t5's
