Does hang drying plants with buds still attached to the stalks make for better product than cutting bud off stalk and drying in a hanging rack??

Meh it will just take longer to dry if you leave it. If you dry your buds too fast it will smoke harsh. I leave enough of the stem to hang my buds from. All the magic happens when you cure just make sure and not dry your buds too much before the curing process.

I've done it both ways... curing is the deal to make it taste better...

I hang my buds attached to stems for 3 days then clip buds from stems and put them into brown paper bags for 2 more days then into the curing jars, of course more days if needed but mine is always 5 to 6 days. Leaving buds attached to the stems will normally cause it to take longer to dry and many will do that purposely.

Sand is correct there are many too many factors. All will depend on temps, humidity level, air flow, etc...

I find it just easier to hang the whole plant rather than stems or wet buds. Break them off when they are mostly dry.
