Drying question..

Yesterday I harvested my plant and now it's hanging to dry in a dark closet. Since the closet is in the garage and it tends to get a little cooler there I put a small fan in the closet that also puts out a little heat. Not a lot, just a little circulating breeze and enough heat to just warm the area to a comfortable temp. Yesterday was my first time trimming off all the leaves around the buds and it went pretty well. I'm thinking that once the buds have been properly dried I will probably take out the scissors and give them a final manicuring. So here's where I need clarification. I've read a lot of post on drying but everyone seems to have a different method. My understanding is that I should let it hang until the stems bend but don't break or is it snap but don't break? Maybe four to five days? Then do I go into paper bags or right in jars. I'm just not clear on this. I ended up with some pretty big buds. When do I break it up into smaller buds? Once it is fully dried & cured? Thanks001.jpg

Yep, usually takes 4-5 days to get that, sort of almost snap dryness. You can bag for a few days, if ya like. It's straight into jars, for me. Either use the burp method, or the no burp boveda method. There's a sitcky for one method, and the no burp thread is near the top of the forum too. You'll probably need to cut some of the big buds into a more manageable size (to fit in quart jars). If you did a decent "dry" there's really no need to "break up yer buds" :hump:

Good work so far, now finish it up :weed:

Sounds good. So much for the fan blowing warm air around. That crapped out quickly, maybe it overheated or something. Anyway, replaced it with another fan that's blowing air around the buds. I'm in Northern CA and my garage cools at night but the daytime temps for the next four or five days are high 70's which seems perfect for drying. Since I only hung the buds yesterday they feel a little damp to the touch. Hopefully in the next four or five days I'll notice a drier feel and then I'll decide if I'm going bag or jar. Thx.

don't have you're fan pointed @ you're buds! you'll dry them out to quickly, and they will taste like fresh cut lawn bro. nice and slow. then, into the jars!
