Bump this!

I was reading the "Bible" And it has it in there as a method to dry ur plants, it only take one day! I was wondering the same if anyone has done this, and if it would make ur bud taste any different....

The only bad side I can see to doing this would be your trich's freezing making it easy for them to break off. I've always froze the commercial weed I bought (good stuff isn't around too much) I always believed it kept it fresh. Its very interesting though.:leaf:

So i have been looking around for days to find anyone with any pictures of buds dried with dry ice, i havent found ANY - i have been very suspicious of the stuff i have been getting locally latley as it is some OG KUSH and it is preserved so beautifully, i am thinking they have to be drying it with dry ice, or freeze drying it some how to keep the freshness look and smell. but no one on any board is talking about this method or posting any pictures, whats the deal?

please someone post their pictures of drying with dry ice, or at least someone give it a try and post some pictures for us, you would be the first

I actually had some dry ice when i was harvesting... They mentioned in the "Grow Bible" that it should dry between 12-24 hours making it the fastest way i read to dry some freshness. But i guess the amount of dry ice you would need to make it even to the 12 hour period is a lot. I had about a gallon zip log bag full, and it didn't last me more than a few hours... It was also weird to have it frozen... At the same time it wasn't near dry quality...

Okay now this is going back a bit. Back in the 70's i used to hear ALL the time that dry ice would make weed 3 times better. I have absolutely no idea if that is true. But if you do it wrap the dry ice in paper towels or even a towel and place the weed on top in a cooler. If you have a cooler with a little top shelf, even better. 3 times!! I can also remember people also swearing that by burying weed in a jar in the ground a fungus would grow in it... seriously, that would make it like 5 times stronger!! People may have died from that... I sure never did it.

Put the dry ice in like a rubbermaid container, poke a few holes in the lid and place your weed on top of this in the freezer.

Don't do it! If the plant cells get frozen by the dry ice they could burst and turn to mush. Plus, drying super fast is a sure fire way to end up with harsh acrid smoke. There's not much use in growing awsome dope if you're not going to take the time to dry and cure properly. Drying and curing correctly can make the difference between awsome bud and bud that makes you cough hard enough to suffocate. Drying evenly and slowly is extremely important because in the presence of water THC is an acid. Drying makes it neutral and much more psychoactive. If you dry fast the centers of the buds can stay too remain moist even while the outside is cruchy. This increases chances of mold and decreases the potency. I've seen so many new growers or people that just didn't know any better grow awsome pot and then ruin it by dry it fast, with fans, in a room too hot, etc. Usually a a week later their funk smells more like cat piss and there is just nothing sadder than that.

im curious if you have ever tried drying with dry ice or if you are just tottaly off topic? what we are asking for is pictures of the dry ice method - i am curious for retaining freshness by freeze drying the herbs.

please someone post pictures of dry ice freeze drying

Well, they don't get frozen by the dry ice, since everyone puts a barrier between the dry ice and the weed. It isn't liquid nitrogen you know....

I have used dry ice to cure it before, just crushed it up and dumped it over the top after i hung it for a few days. I put it in a box with lots of holes poked in the sides. IT seemed to work decent. The smell was definitely there. I agree most people are fucking up the curing process. I get such beautiful weed sometimes and i go to smell it, and it smells like fungus or an attic, it disgusting. All these mfers growing out in the country curing there shit in old ass tobacco barns and dank dark places... YOUR WEED SMELLS LIKE WHERE YOU DRY IT. Oxidation is a ferocious force of nature constantly happening in the air. Its a war, as soon as you cut your weed down its at war with preservation. That smell, that beautiful dank lucious gods vagina smell, is the most delicate and thus the most fleeting and suseptable to oxidizers.

Dry ice curing is good, but expensive... Check your local provider, it aint cheap. a

Its all about that level of detail you want to take it too, some folks scoff at a level of sofistication that high, me, Ill smoke it all, but im a connesseiur, and I like when my weed sucks me in and I have to keep smelling it over and over. That shit is few and far between, but hell, thats most shit these days, mfers in here on a get rich quick scheme wont develop an eye for detail or palette for detail, there is just very few passionate artists consumed with their craft, hell its just like growing tomatoes and strawberries, and we have all seen the wackness they sell at the grocery store and farmers market.

I produce for 4 peoples personal use. Im not trying to move weight. So a little exra money for dry ice is warranted, after looking at them under the microscope, they didnt look mishandled afterwards. The resin has the same characteristics as a fat and is not brittle when frozen. Its hard like a rock.

After curing the buds I put them in the jars to store, i also put a micronugget of dry ice in the jar with them. The dry ice sublimates, leaving the can pressureized and your herb in an inate enviroment, instead of trapping it with oxygen and oxidizers, the aroma enemy.
