Dry ice hash

It does make a fairly dry, fine and light-colored kief at least every time I've done it. I have a patient that prefers the powder form, but I like a darker, more solid cake myself. I've tried various methods of pressing, inncluding some which call for heating. Partly by accident, I discovered something else.
Take a heaping tablespoon or so of said kief and put it in a small glass bowl, like a dipping bowl. Then just start kneading it between your thumb and fingers. After only about 10 min of working it you should have a much darker, sticky ball of hash. I guess what you're doing is releasing resins that are inside the trichs and they get burst. That's my hypothesis anyway lol It doesn't take long at all and works great.

I don't think it's as concentrated as the water and ice method based on effect; many hypothesis why but all guesses
but really its the first one that kills me, i love sitting down with a good concentrate bubbler, non-butane igniter and smoking some good hash, and the dry ice just isn't it.. but thats as far as taste, and taste is pretty subjective.. lol

That is what is known as solventless hash oil. After working it the product can be vaporized in an oil rig, unlike 120 micron bubble.

Maybe it just depends on the strain man I made some this week some pre-98 bubba trim and its just caked up but the Northern lights I ran is powdery

Try what I said with the dry powder stuff. I don't know if I am right about what happens with it, but it works.

Agree 100%... tried dry ice few weeks ago, crazy yield and easiest method I've used so far... Didn't dig the taste though, allows for more plant matter I think

I just finished my 1st indoor harvest, and I have some sugar trim off of the 3 plants that I harvested. Plus, I have the bud to use as well, but I don't plan on using much of that. I have bubble bags and have been waiting until I finished my crop before I used them. The dry ice method definitely looks ALOT easier thank using ice and water to do the extraction. I also have a glass tube for making BHO, but I didn't like the taste of that when I made it. I couldn't get rid of that butane taste, and I used 5x refined butane to make it with. I guess I didn't purge it enough. Hell I don't know. I have never had access to hash here in Kentucky. You never see it for sell, and I haven't ever known anyone that has made it except for myself. I wish I had access to some good hash. I want to try top quality in every form hash comes in to be honest. I don't think hash is cost effective and thats why I haven't ever seen it for sale where I live. Anyways I guess I am going to make some dry hash ice whenever I decide to go buy the dry ice since it doesn't keep for very long. What micron bag is best to do the extraction with? I have heard 220 micron bag is the best to use for dry ice extraction.

Smaller mesh means better kief. When doing an ice and water extraction the 220 bag is your workbag, used to catch anything too large to be of use (trash). i'd use either the 120 or the 73 micron bag for dry ice. Using just the 73 will result in a very good kief but you get much more if you use the 120.
As a reference - when i do an ice and water extraction only the 73micron kief goes to hash. the kief from the 120 and the finest mesh (25microns maybe) go to tinctures, candy, etc. The 160 either gets tossed or used in baking, depending on what it looks like under my scope.

220 is the best workbag for dry ice extraction, then just smell and look at the kief, when it smells grassy or starts to green up you know the quality is diminishing

dry ice hash is great! I press it in a vice under high pressure, then slowy heat it by holding over a low heat source and knead it with my fingers.. The real high quality is more of a melt, but I also like a little green material in it. It still presses up well and gets nice and hard/pliable.. but then instead of melting, you can stick a big chunk of it in a bowl and just light one end and it burns like incense..
My patients even like that, tastes great too.

220 should get the best return, but the 110 bag produces a better product.

Once your butane has stopped dripping out use a small wire or real stiff paper clip or something of the sort and swirl around the drippings it'll help the butane evaporate instead of it being trapped in small air pockets and you'll get rid of the taste and have 1 hit goodness left over. I went through the same thing till I did this.
