Dripper for the top?

I am reading as much as I can about bubbleponics because I think this might be what I decide to use.

My question is, what is that "dripper" thing I see used a lot called? hooks to a pump and you put it at the top so it is constantly dripping from the top.

Sorry if that all sounded a little spacey. I'm kinda messed up right now :eyesmoke:

I'm about to be on your level let me see if I can get an answer out before I hit this lol....

Most of the time it is used early on in the plants life. Plants are usually fed this way 3x per day. Using DWC the roots hang in the solution and bubbles provide air so top feeding is not necessary. Most just make sure the rockwool or rapid rooter plug stays moist not soaked (plant needs to breathe) until roots hit the water. You do not need a pump you can pour your solution (usually tap water or R/O) on your medium each day until roots hit

Thank you weedler. You just answered that question with the suave sophistication of a highly educated, well bred person.
kiss-ass

lol, wow am i baked!!

LMAO

Let me clarify that in top feeding it stays moist not wet and DWC the plug usually does not get all that wet but can or not at all if your using larger net cups more than likely the small starter plug you use will not get wet because you have more hydrotron rocks in the cup, the opposite is true the less you have the easier it is for water and air bubbles splashing up to hit the medium. Again make sure you cover your medium to shield the light from hitting it this can cause algae, bacteria and a whole list of problems.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... I'm going to regret this question in a little while after I level back off, but I'm gonna ask it anyway :) The roots do hang down in the water don't they? (see, I told you I would regret asking this later).

I ask because the way I am reading what you said, it sounds like the roots don't hand in the water....

Wait, I just re-read that for the fourth time and it finally soaked through. Not roots, rockwool. LMAO good god.

But ok, thank you, that makes sense to me now.

Most people start off in small starter plugs, rockwool or rapid rooter plugs. These are small about 1"x1"x1" I germinate my seeds in paper towels and a zip lock baggy and place in a dark area for about 12 hours then put the seed tap root down in my pre-soaked & PH'd rockwool cube this gives it plenty of moisture for the first 5 days because I keep the humidity high. Once the roots develop in your medium (rapid rooter plug or rockwool) we transplant this into a net cup. Fill the net cup 1/3 full of hydrotron rocks and then place your medium on the rocks fill rocks around the medium I like to cover my medium with rocks this allows me to not have to put a cover over my net cups. Place net cup into your system with the water level at the bottom of the cups run it this way with plain R/O or tap water PH'd to 5.8 until the roots hit the water then lower it an inch or two the roots grow down to the water that you have aerated 24/7 using air stones & a pump. Once the first set of leaves pop up (true set of leaves) then slowly add nutrients 1/4 strength at first then slowly work your way up. It is better to go slow than burn your plants and have to start all over!

ok So the roots never actually hang down in to the water? just close to it and the bubbly-splash is what feeds them?

I thought that the roots actually grew down in to the water pretty deep.

no after the roots hit the water you drop the level 2" leave it at that level for the rest of the grow. The roots stay submerged but keep a constant level of 2" below your net cup at all times once the roots first hit the water. Remember you start off with the level right at the bottom of the net cup. We top off daily with PH'd water to 5.8 to maintain constant level in the reservoir. Use frozen water bottles to keep water temps below 70F and above 62F

so let me get this strait. The roots don't hang deep in the water? I thought that they did, but if I am reading you right, they stay above the water line and the bubbly-splashy is what keeps them wet?

Damn someone needs to write a good set of instructions for this, it would have made me feel a lot less stupid than I do right now for asking these questions. Weedler, thanks for staying calm with me on these questions. lol

shit- strike that lmao double post after a few minutes lol

ok I get it now. drop it the initial and then leave it. Cool cool. Thanks weedler. don't be surprised if I bug the hell out of you with questions about this :)

I'm doing the same thing right now with master kush and 6 1000 watt lights I'm in week two of progressive growth recipe and my plants are huge! Thick ass stems, riots hangin in the nutes, I'm so excited!!! And you only have to clean out tour reservoir every 10 days and the buckets!! Easier than dirt

U got a question thought what if ur water/Nutes are right at the net pot and the roots are hanging in the mixture is that bad? Bad being the mixture is right at the net pot?

You keep the water level even with the net pot UNTIL roots hit the water than you lower 2-3" below the net cup and leave it there the entire grow.
