DR80 vs GL80

GL80 supports at least 35lbs more hanging from the top, has a coated frame, and is made by GrowLab

The dr80 claims to be totally light proof and has 1 extra vent port, while being made by secret jardin

Other than that I don't believe there are any technical differences that matter, I suppose the rest is up to build quality and what not.

What do you guys think? Which one has a better rep? I can get either one for the same price... Which should I spring for?

the gl80 is also 8 inches taller. more height=more bud.

it also has 3 viewing windows so you can look at the plants without opening the tent.

Is it worth it to run a mh and a hps during flowering if you only have one of each? Or is it basically an issue if you have as much light from each instead of more from the hps via extra bulbs?

Are any fuller spectrum hps bulbs worth it if you only intend to use them during flowering?

I have the 4x4 growlab and I don't have any issues with it at all. Very pleased. No light leaks, very airtight. I am planning on buying more of them. The secret jardin's are being used by a couple of BUDdies and I believe their experience has been the same as mine. Very satisfied. If you have the room to go 6foot 7 inch I would get the growlab. I believe the GL80 L has windows. (2'x 4'11"x6'7"). The smaller GL80 does not have windows if I remember correctly.

PICS!!!

We need some details on these tents.. I'm very interested to know as well.

Well know that they are both way better than crappy/no name brands for 100 dollars or so off of ebay and such. And both are supposed to be pretty damn good anyway.

I started this thread hoping to hear from people that have had either tent (hopefully both) or know of people that have, etc. that can tell me which is more worth it. Maybe there is something better about the building quality of one even though the other has XXXXX, etc...

Ok here I am... I have owned miltiple tents of various makers. Here the dl on th gl/dr... homebox and secret jardin are oe were the top 2 tent makers. They actually merged and now produce the growlab. Each company's tents are still available in newer versions.. homebox siver, and dr's wih orange trim. That being said... I run a gl145 and a dr240... and love both! The windows are nice on the gl. But not available on the 80. The gl also will take more weight hanging then any tent.. no questions. My 145 has a xtrasun 6in ac hood, can fan 6 ho, and a can 66 fiter with no issues. The 66 is like 45 lbs alone! So no matter what tent you go with.. as long as itvstarts with gl or dr you will be happy! :) any specific questions just shoot man

Are any of them dual layered? Like i have read that some have the inner layer the plants see and an outer layer for strength, I've read in forums people confirming this and disproving it. I also read somewhere once they were made that way so you could wash the inside easy

Also is there any reason not to get a grow lab tent? can you think feature that is better on another tent brand/line?

as far as im aware, you dont need both only one type of light will suffice if thats all you have. im a beginner also so i could be wrong. i know hps puts out more light than mh at the same wattage. here is my tent for reference. im goona hook up the carbon filter to the other side of the duct hole on the reflector once they go into flowering. i dont think you could go wrong with either tent. dr80 seems to be more common but i went with gl80 because its added height and also because it was available locally.

Nice photos taco! +rep!

Thanks for the help, I needed to know the placement and sizes of everything in the tent so I can decide between the DR 80 or GL80.

On all the websites it says the gl80 includes the windows...not at all a big deal just thought someone might be interested in that.

If you can go with MH + HPS lighting for the entire grow that would be best. You want to try and get the fullest usable spectrum possible, which neither can produce on it's own.

i just recently bought a gl80 at a local shop, and it has extremely minimal light leaks. i love it, and every time i look at it, i just see so much potential. only things agianst it are that it doesnt have 2 opposing exhaust vents for a cool tube, and the only purpose made exhaust vent is on the ceiling. i belive it will make it somewhat awkward to mount a carbon filter, where i would prefer a side exhaust near the top. overall, lovely tent.
