hey there. this is my first forray into growing my own weed. i bought 5 feminised dutch passion blueberry, and 5 feminised big bang from greenhouse seeds. all germinated fine within 48 hours.
i only recently took photos as i dont have a camera, but some of the plants arent looking so healthy so im hoping you guys could help diagnose and instruct me.

the first thing i did.... before i started growing, was buy jorge cervante's latest edition of his book... over 500 pages. i learned loads through this book...

i am using one blue spectrum 125 watt cfl, one red spectrum 125 watt cfl, and a blue spectrum 250 watt cfl.

i must buy at least one more 250 watt cfl, but in the red spectrum. would this be a desireable setup for flowering, or do i need ALL red spectrum lamps for flowering?

i built a makeshift enclosure from timber. its approx 1 metre square (about 3 1/2 foot square) and 7 foot high. i have the lamps on pulleys, and i have panda plastic as you call it. ive started giving it nutrients when it entered the veg stage, but i may be giving it too much!!!??? 2-3 ml per litre. i gave them only water this morning.

oh yeah, and they were given 24/0 light up to now. im gonna flower as soon as i get that other lamp.

looks nice. i wanna try some big bang when i start over next year. hey man i would put those cfls horizontally to get max illumination. Cfl's put out more light from the sides of the bulbs than the tip. good luck, peace.

Yea I was going to say the sam as Mr bitti. They appear to be doing fine how they are but when it comes time to clower I would most definetly get those bad boys mounted horizontally somehow and with a reflector because there is a tone of light going to waste there...Looks greaet though keep up the good work

im a student and im broke. i want to get another 250 watt red cfl, and dont want to flower them untill i have all the right stuff, including the appropriate nutrients. theyre all showing well developed female pre flowers

will they grow much bigger when flowering? i wont have enough light to cover them if theyre huge.

is it ok to use half red cfls and half blue spectrum cfl's or do you need all red for flowering?

jorges cervantes says in his book that the cfls work best vertically?!
i suppose he's not a cfl specialist though!

how much are reflectors?

Well most ppl like all red spectrum light for flowering yes. I use hid's for flowering and because I dont have money for new lights I have a 400w hps light which is red spectrum and I have a 400w mh which is blue spectrum. I think it works well I use the blue spectrum light over my plants in weeks 0-4 flowering and the red over my plants in weeks 4-8 to fatten up the buds. Works well for me. Reflectors for those you would probably have to make. I havent seen any to buy. I made a reflector bye rolling a white piece of aluminum in a half moon. Used a 1/4" piece of steal to run a long it and a 90 degree bend on one end to fix my light to. Fixed my socket to it. Extended my wires to the ballest to put it outside my room. Just be creative. But I am no cfl specialist either it just seems like common sense to me that there is a larger light surface and 180 degrees straight on the plant horizontally than just maybe 20% direct light on the plant vertically?

I built a reflector and bought an Econolight 150w HPS for less than $50. Something to think about when flowering comes around. As well as your plants would benefit more from those CFL's being placed horizontally if you can.
