I was only 10 in 71 so I am a little young for her. I remember watching the draft lottery on TV and they called my birthday. My mom freaked out even though I was 9. I also remember asking her why her friends were using tweezers to pass a cigarette around in a circle. Her friend answered - he worked at a gas station and didn't want the gas on his hands to catch on fire. I bought that explanation until I was older and used tweezers to hold a roach.

LOL....yeah it was a much simpler time.....
I volunteered for the Army right out of high school in 1969.
