Double Top w/o Any Cuts Made

So, I thought this was pretty interesting, and was wondering if anyone else has had this happen...

I'm growing some Durban Poison from bag seed, and from the moment her first true leaves appeared I started to notice some unique qualities she has. 1 Fan leave from each node went on to develop 9-11 fingers, and she grew 2 tops without any sort of cutting done. :hump:

She's 2.5 weeks into flowering now, and is doing very well.

Like I said at the top, I was wondering if anyone has had this happen, or knows what caused this...

Thanks doods,

Toekn

Dont be worried bout it. More tops is a good thing. All plants are different even if the strain is the same. The only way you can ensure you get the same plant everytime is by taking cuttings. I'm growing Durban now look on dutch pro or canna thread. They are 2nd week flowering. Dutch passion.

If you keep your light close to plants that can make the plants bush out and tops get longer. My dp was topped once 3rd week
Vegging. Make sure you have got enough height if you haven't topped them dp gets really tall.

I'm super stoked about it...got lucky on this one. I took a few cuttings about a week before flowering on a random chance that she was gonna turn out female (random bag seed). I need to go gamble or something!

Yeah, been growing with CFL (200 watts true total). Kept the lights within 2 inches the entire grow. I know exactly what you mean. She bushed up really well in veg and is just now starting to stretch a bit

Also if the mother and father of your seed was topped and so was there mother and father the 2 heads could be genetic.

Yeah, she's been putting on close to 2 inches a day. Just now about 2.5 feet tall. I have no limits to height, so that doesn't bother me too much

Sorry bout the neck breakers...didn't even think about rotating pictures

That's the one dilemma with smoking...either we DON'T think, or we OVERTHINK, haha. A self "topping" plant like that is the first I've read, that's really cool man, I wish I was that lucky! And your plants look really good. I agree with uksecretsensi, try to take a cutting and revert it back into veg state, see if you can get the same topping effect.

I.p.I.p is on the right track find the rare phenos and keep them going. I have never heard of a dp plant with 2 heads without topping. But how can u b sure that it is pure dp it could have been pollinated by a different strain.

I have found the only Durban worth growing is dutch passions. I believe that d.ps Durban is the real one. Durban has a anisee kind of smell but dank at the same time. Great smoke.

UK, we're like the Tocayo's of posts, lol, both have the same number (although tocayo really just means same name, but one of my cooks taught me that word yesterday so it popped into my head.) It might take a few weeks to revert it back into veg state, but if you could hermie that plant or at least bread it to get the genetics of two tops...DUDE!!!

There's no real way I can be sure. It did come from bag seed, so there is def a chance it's not pure dp. I'm for sure gonna take the best phenos and run with it. Who knows...maybe I'll breed a self topping plant!

Here are some updated pictures of the two headed Durban Poison (She's a little over 3 weeks flowering now):
