Don't Overwater vs DWC?

Hi, everyone. What is the deal with the advice, "Don't overwater"?

The last plant that I grew (20 years ago) sat 24/7 in a tub of water and thrived. Is the "don't overwater" regarding adding a new lot of nutrients each water? ...as opposed to me recirculating the same water 24/7?

I don't get it. Could someone please enlighten me? Thanks.

hey man
nothing related to the nutrients
its about oxygenation of the water ... hotter it gets the less oxygen it retain
in DWC your solution is constantly mixed, so water stay oxygenated.. overwatering usually happen in soil or soiless medium ... as long as the water is not constantly mixed in the medium, it will lost quickly its oxygen, thats why soil require dry/wet cycles, and rockwool coco too but with more conistency, no dry wet cycles

in DWC as long as your solution stay mixed and between 70-80 degree f, as you say the plant will be happy and thrive

Oh, ok. Thanks, kingromano.

So expanded clay in a pot (sitting in aerated water from air pump) with a constant stream of water recirculating back into the top of the pot 24/7 via a water pump and hose

..doesn't get classified as over-watering because it is between 70-80F and has plenty of Oxygen?

This is the only indoor method that I've used and I had great trouble-free yields. Now I know why, as I always wondered how people could overwater plants. I always just thought it was just another way of saying, "poor drainage". :)

Do you have a pic of your system?I play around with similar looking for new ideas thx.
