Dont let the strain die! :(

I recently acquired 2 Indica females from a friend. They were on the brink of death, but I brought them back to health. They are currently flowering, and I want to take a clone, but I know its iffy taken them during flowering.
However, I dont wanna put it back into veg growth. Can I possibly wait until flowering completes, then regenerate the plant, put it back into veg, then take clones? All I know is I dont want this strain to die, because Ive seen its potential, and I want more than the 2 mother plants I have now. (I took 2 clones, one from each plant, though I didnt have rooting hormone, I just used water. One died, and one is still alive. Its been about 5 days now.)
Also, if I posted pictures could anyone identify the strain perhaps?

Yes, revegging is your best bet at this point. When you harvest, just leave a small amount of green on the plant toward the bottom. Return the lights to 18/6 and convert back to your vegging nutes. You will see some really weird looking new growth for the first 30 days, but the plant will grow out of this phase and return to normal. Just veg it until it gets some nice branches on it, then take the cuttings to keep the strain going. This works, I've done it many times.
