Does this baby look good for a starter?

Yeah I found a z-105 Watt Compact Fluorescent 5000K Natural Daylight CFL for 24.99. Gonna buy a few of them and get a 2400K-2600K for flowering. Sound decent?
sounds dope man that should work out fine, i currently only have a little under 100 watts on my seedling right now and its doing great. That bigger bulb may run a bit hotter though so just make sure it's not too close. You might want to look at some CFLs with lower k like a 2700k one, those are on a more red/yellow spectrum which is better for flowering. That natural daylight spectrum is good though too. Just thowin out some advice or whatever ha.

cheers

Yeah like I said, I'm down for any and all advice and I'll probably use and learn from all of this. I plan on using the 5000K for the veg period and then drop to the 2700K for flowering. I'm so impatient and impulsive though I have a feeling I'll mess it up. HAHA. Time will tell. This could be my best hobby yet.

LOL now that is hilarious.... I'll be switching to CFL's by next week. This is just my experimental plant for now. I'd love to do side by side growing tho that would be cool. So get your pics going! haha I'll upload some new pics tonight. Happy smoking and growing.
Yea man. Luckily I left it in the dark over night, threw light back on all day today and it seems to be growing still. Been usin too much water though I think. gotta let my soil dry out. Yea feel ya on the experimental trip ha. I just had to set up new lighting. so I flipped a touch lamp upside down that has 3 bulbs, got an LED light on it, and a CFL lol. I'll probably get some 'you're doin it wrong' messages down the line, but its what I got to work with right now. So thats what i'm doin. And yea I'll get some more pics up, I have an album started on my profile. I'll show ya my rigged set up ha. Thinkin I may turn the bottom middle section of my entertainment center into my grow box. Got my lil dome set up in there right now. Thinkin bout a way to rig it up. I have such a stoner creative mind, so everything I do ends up way stonerish ha. You'll see. But ye man. Side by side sounds good. If mine has to bail out I'll try to start another if I can get some new seeds.

Man these bulbs are getting more expensive for me!!! haha I'm probably only gonna let this thing grow 2 ft and then snap it into flowering immediately. After transplant it's gonna go in a plastic storage container until it reaches the height of the container and then flower it. I am scrounging things up for my big grow though. I dug out two old computers and got all the fans out of them. Still gotta go get these damn light bulbs. I thought these CFLs were cheap!?!?!?! I think I've overwatered mine as well. It's still quite damp 2 inches under the soil after 4 days but it shows no signs of haulting. She grew an inch over night. Here's how she's looking today. What do you think of the ghetto setup? HAHA I was wondering if it was stretching though cause it seems thin. What do ya think?

68w cfls should be like fifteen dollars. So just start buyin one a week or something, I don't think your plant will out grow your light source at all if you do that. And you dont look like you're stretchin, my seedling actually was falling over at one point from bein too far from the light. I just stuck a pencil in the soil to let her lean on and she built up her stem and now she's doin great

I think Lowes had a 100W CFL for $17 when I went to check yesterday. I'll probably still check out Lame-Mart and other hardware stores.

Ive read alot that says mj only uses 18 hours of light. and that if you put her on a 24/0 or 24/7 "forced vegetation" your just wasting electricity. I would do 18/6, the babies need some darkness and cool down time. Lets the box cool down aswell. keep it natural on a 24 hour day schedule. I always say its best to be closest to natural nature!

Its working great for me!

yeah man home depot or somethin.

nothin wrong with walmart (other than foreign child labor hahaha) and nothin wrong with bein on a low budget, just stay away from cheaply made shitty shit, yer just gonna have to buy it again eventually.

Ive read up on experiments about. A forced veg, 24 hours of light WILL grow slightly faster than 18/6, But 18/6 will have better roots, better roots=better budddss.

yeah i got mine on 20/4 ive heard you need to give them some darkness. To absorb shit or somethin I don't remember what it was that they do at night.

But yeah I'm pretty sure you're just wasting electricity and aren't giving your plant a night cycle, so that just seems unnatural to me...

Should I just do an automatic switch to 18/6 or gradually do it?
I'm really new to growing and all, you know this Ry. But personal experience at this point. I think we started about the same time. And I was putting my plant in the dark every night when I went to sleep left it in the dark. Until I put up my new lil light rig. It may be the lights, but either way my second sec of leaves started growing a bit faster when I started 24/0. But this is just me. I believe all things need to rest from growing. But dunno, just from my own personal perspective. Might have to try cuttin the light back off here and there. I read lights on is when the plant goes through the Veg cycle, and lights off is when it does all the flowering stuff. How good is Alaskan weed?? lol! They have 24/0 natural lights! :P

Yeah my second set of leaves JUST started coming out. The first aren't even fully developed yet.. or are they? It got down to 58 in the garage I grow it in yesterday and probably about 65 today. I was thinkin about maybe putting a space heater by it to see if it will help. I'll get some more pics tonight.

yeah man i think it prolly depends on genetics but ive heard during flowering at night if the temp dips below a certain degree it encourages purple buds so you may be able to use that to your advantage at some point

That would be sweet to get some purps but I doubt that the temperature will be dipping that low at all when it gets to the flowering stage. It'll be pretty hot by that time. At what point are you able to tell if it's an Indica or Sativa? Do you have to wait for a fan leaf to get bigger or can you just tell by looking at the leaves right now? And when should I start the LST? I'm thinking in about a week or 2 I am going to transplant it. I started it on the fall to 18/6 tonight. I put lights out for an hour at 6pm. I'm going to gradually work it to 18/6 and keep it there til flowering. She grew a bunch in the last 36 hours I was impressed. This first pic is the one I'm interested in people seeing. Is this normal? It just seems weird to me lol. She looks healthy but I'm gonna be concerned about this thing every day. Found 2 more seeds in some good solid rock hard buds today, gonna save those for when I actually have all my equipment. And again can you tell you yet if its indica or sativa yet?

1st pic is straight, I'm pretty sure its just reaching for light. Idk maybe you need your lights closer so it won't stretch.

And you may not be able to tell if it's sativa/indica for a while or at all since this is probably a hybrid. Most times dominant traits will show but unless you've got some experience with a lot of strains it'll probably be hard for you to tell.

Just look at pics of pure indacas/sativas and see at least what visable traits it shares
