Does the Northern Lights #5 from the 90’s still exist?

I'm sure some people still have clones of it.

Tradition has it that Northern Lights began on an island near Seattle, Washington, where 11 indica sprouts began their climb to glory. The genetics they propagated came from indigenous Afghani landrace strains, cherished for their highly resinous buds, fast flowering, and resilience during growth.

Yes, but it thought they were never sold and only a few people got some. Is there a reproduction currently sold?
I have a pack of 89nl5 from special selection in Canada.

description -

89 NL5 F4 regular

Indoor
There’s so many terps loaded up in this strain that we did an open pollination so everyone has a chance to select their favorite. Everything from a sweet candy to a funky burnt rubber. Excellent breeding material for those that enjoy making their own seed. Also very good old school smoke. Yield definitely benefits from some longer vegetative growth. Stretch is non existent so grow it as big as you want it to finish.
"These 89 NL 5 seeds were made in 89 but never released until recently. These were confirmed to have come from Nevil originally. This line was basically a "sister" line to the NL he released back in the 80's
The story of how I came into them is as follows. Apparently a person that was friends with Nevil got these seeds from him. A friend of mine then made a trade with his friend. My friend then made seeds and passed them around to a few in our circle."

Open pollination of the f3 generation
Yield: Med
Aromas: Sweet candy to Burnt rubber. Loaded with terps
Potency: Very good.
Indoor flowering 56-60 days

ALSO, I was sure I had read that breeder Steve from spice of life had done work on northern lights when in Europe and that he basically just turned nl5 into what is northern lights now, has anyone else heard this? Not sure it was an interview with him or word of mouth.

I know that, but Deep Ellum said Nevil started his line via a NL2 BX that Nevil did himself. He said this BX was then taken to F3 by Nevil.
The Bx would be NL2 F2 female Bx to the NL2 F1 male.

Inbred - NL2 F1(F) x NL2 F1(M) = NL2 F2

Bx - NL2 F2(F) x NL2 F1(M) = NL2 F3

Thank you so much, I thought it was just Dons Kush, but that explains the Thai that Deep Ellum breed towards.

You have no idea how happy I am that it is the real deal. i think he believes that its a (BX1)F3.

Aka Hindu Kush, right?

Thank you so much, now I can finally grab a pack of NL2 from Deep Ellum (I wasn't sure and did not want to "waste" money) and get Bodhis DLA9 and look for a Kush4 Pheno.
Well maple leaf was one jim gave him and nevil he found afghan t and s in those seeds given to him and kush 4 being another one of jims

Interesting, I thought he gave the same description for the NL5 x 89NL. I could be mistaken though.. is that supposed to be the NL5 bx?
It is billed as just NL#5 on the pack...not sure. Seems like its two different NL#5 lines combined for added vigor and possibly a fuller expresion of NL#5?!

Personally I want the mentioned NL#2 / NL#5 for breeding purposes.

Due to both lines being pretty inbred I think they have great hybrid potential.
Seedstockers sell s1s of the nl5 x 2 btw as does a couple of others places as for regs from a place u can trust idk

In the 90’s, Sensi seed bank was the one! Grew NL #1, 2 and 5. My favorite was #1. Just like you skinned a fir. Aroma and taste. They were grown from regs and cloned. I remember it to be very potent… but that was many years past now. The one I’d like to find is Sensi seeds Haze x Thai x NL#5. Was described as “for experienced users only, loss of bladder and bowel control, extreme vertigo possible.

Found a nice classic nl5 type pheno in a pack of the csi open pollination from Seattle Greg’s stock. Used 3 males on it so I should have enough beans to sift through now to find something special. If you’re looking for classic northern lites, it’s in there to be found
