Does The Atheist Believe In LOVE? (If So) What Is The Nature Of This LOVE?

Ive been reading these posts and I must say, its making me sick. If you do not believe in some kind of God, you are truly Ignorant. There HAS to be something or someone greater then us, that made us and LOVES us. I do believe in Jesus, but I am not judging those who don't. I can see how some think the idea of a human son of God is far-fetched. But to not believe in any god at all is outrageous. Even the ANCIENT civilizations knew there was beings greater then themselves. I am not trying to convert anyone, but I am saying that there is a life after death. Be it Heaven,Hell or Purgatory, you will have to answer for your Earthly deeds somehow. If you mock God Ex.

You WILL answer for it. I have NO PROOF, but I have faith. And with this faith, I am trying to save you guys from a very painful eternity after life. Peace ;-)
No, it is not outrageous, it is well thought out and searched upon on our own accord.

So you mean to tell me there is no god whatsoever, I am honestly curious.
Not believing in something that has no evidence supporting it is not outrageous or ignorant. Not believing there is a god is not the equivalent of making a positive claim that there is no god.

There is no 'God'. C'mon man, wise up. There's is no Santa Claus either. It's just a lil bit of Tom Foolery haha. Just to keep ya in line.

The Bible is not meant to be taken literally (Speaking of the Old Testament of course).

Some parts are meant to be taken literally and some are not, just like you said;especially the old testament. God does not want us to cut off our hand if it causes us to sin.
But to compare God to Santa is impossible. Santa is created to put more fun into Christmas for kids. God exists in our daily lives and we just need to take the time to realize that and become close to him. And I speak this from true, honest experience: Once you open your heart to God, amazing things start happening to your life. Things you may struggle with like bills, child support, addictions, relationships, all of those things that are common problems among people today will be so much easier to deal with and get over if you talk to and consult God about them. Sure he may not pop out of the sky and start having a conversation with you, but you will just start to feel him helping you what to do.
Why don't you wise up, and you will see what I am talking about because it is the most real thing you will ever experience in your life.

There are a lot of things in Science that we have no good evidence about, just some damn good guesses by some damn smart people. Yet we believe them without any doubt. Its called faith man, having faith that God is helping you through every aspect of your life.
If you dont have faith, when you leave this world, what will you have? Think about it.

Ummm I wonder if y'all realize this is a terribly rehashed argument. Grab a dictionary and learn the words about which you speak... Sif write messy paragraphs when there are words like nihilism, agnosticism etc. Ugh, this is such a disappointing thread.

First, that is an equivocation on the use of the word faith. Science doesn't believe things on faith, they deal with levels of certainty and have good reasons to accept what is claimed.
Second, please tell me anything in science that is believed with the same lack of evidence that there is for some sky wizard that created everything.

k umm and i dont see how you dont... lol

The thread title. "Does The Atheist Believe In LOVE? (If So) What Is The Nature Of This LOVE?''

I thought what i wrote there pretty much answers/responds to that..... being that i myself am a self-proclaimed atheist or non-theist..

You can see love. For example, two people kissing and having a merry life together. Whereas religion/opposition you can't see people floating up to heaven or see God or Jesus or whatever. Theres no real reason why we should believe it in other than that our ego & super-egos would rather not want ourselves to commit to the thought that this life is the only life we have.

.. but uhh yeaah to each his own right? lol

An atheist is simply someone who does not see any proof for any gods, goddesses, etc....
If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is an intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

You should live your life and try to make the world a better place for your being in it, whether or not you believe in god. If there is no god, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind. If there is a benevolent god, he will judge you on your merits and not just on whether or not you believed in him.

In short, you don't need god to be good. You don't need god to love. But that would be just my opinion as I love and I don't have any gods. I do good deeds... and yet I don't have gods... Imagine No Religion... A world without wars.... Who's god has the biggest Penis and who is right or wrong.... gods have no place in my world of logic, science, and love and neither does the easter bunny, santa, or the tooth fairy.

I've been called an athiest, I've been called a blaspheming heathen, I've been called many things ... but they mean less than nothing to me.
The words themselves are made up words to express the views, beliefs and attitudes of religious zealots as a means of putting down those that don't belong to their particular sect or follow their beliefs.
The words may mean something to the aforesaid crackpots, but certainly not to me.
If you must pidgeon-hole me by "name calling" then please refer to me as a realist.
